Wow at the price. Quite crazy when they probably mass produce them for $10 or less.

zoomorphIt is actually quite expensive for gmk to make these sets. Especially in a one off fashion like this. They have to disrupt their entire line to make this small batch. That's why they have an moq at 250, only at that point is it profitable for them. Plus molds for injection molding are really expensive.

OldCatAnd the machine they make them with was totally free.
Plastic being cheap is a misnomer. Many plastics cost more than metal by volume.

zoomorphI doubt you can mass produce this set at $10 with double-shot molding, high quality plastic, high quality display tray and printed sleeve for the tray. I think the materials involved would be more expensive than $10.

TanvirK175At least R&D went into making HD650s. These are just cubes of plastic.

zoomorphR&D goes into everything that is manufactured. Keycaps are definitely not 'cubes' by any measure.

CyphreOf course. But let's not pretend that the R&D required to make a paperclip or a cube of plastic is anywhere near on par with the R&D required to make a computer or reference headphones.
I would not be surprised to see people on massdrop spend $150 for a set of paperclips.

zoomorphThat's not how production manufacturing works. R&D relates to both the creation and production of an item. This is double shot injection molded plastic, not a paper clip. Take your False Equivalence elsewhere.

zoomorph$150? That's just the base kit, do people really settle for that? Buying every kit for Laser cost like $475 shipped.
I guess that's still less than the $500 I paid for my Boring Company flamethrower. Plus $265 shipping to Europe. Plus 23% VAT and import/storage/handling fees. Hang on, shouldn't have said that, wouldn't want you to rupture an aneurysm or anything.
What are you gonna do with your money, take it to the grave? Eh, guess that'd be better than spending it on an O2/ODAC, too much time spent trying to put down other people and their hobbies to actually research your own interests.
See, everyone's entitled to buying stupid shit every once in a while. Isn't that nice?

TanvirK175I think his point is price/value. Given the nice design, I think the lack of strong participation for this drop indicates that the price is too high.
And I joined the drop as soon as it is released.

OldCatThis is the standard price for gmk caps though. So I don't think the price has a big bearing on the participation. Laser was exactly the same price and has over 3000 buyers.

OldCatI disagree and also joined as soon as it released in everything expect DC and Norde and Pure Hira.
As said many times before, the base kit covers a LARGE amount of keyboards out there and this is a normal price for a base kit this size. I think the only expensive kit is Novelties but Laser started at that too and it went down a lot.
