Mcusta makes REALLY nice stuff, if I had any need for pocket knives I'd be all over this. Sadly I do not live in the jungle or in the wild west and I don't really need to carry around a pocket knife, so I've lost the ability to rationalize buying stuff like this.

For anyone that's interested - I sent the knife with the busted lock (see my reply to @Wayoftread below) back to Mcusta in Japan and they've offered to replace it with a new one free of charge.
I had that thing for the better part of a decade and they're still willing to do that - if that's not an indicator of a manufacturer standing behind their product, then I don't know what is.
10/10, Mcusta. Good job.

sfzsfzThat's awesome service! Do you have the contact info for Mcusta? I bought an MC-1 here on Massdrop and love it, but two of the torx screws were loose and fell out at some point so I'm missing a center stud and two screws. I just want to buy the replacements but have no idea how to reach them.

I have no idea. It's been like this since I got it. My guess is that it probably is a dud but I don't know how frequently they occur.

I would gladly buy this knife but Massdrop has a problem with shipping to Poland. " It is the responsibility of the buyer to know and comply with all importation regulations and local laws."
I know local laws, Massdrop doesn't know anything. Our law is far more liberal than (for example) in UK. There is no restrictions in blade length, locking or assisted opening. The one and only issue is, when blade is hidden and looking like something else [blades hidden in belts, canes etc.].

piomicYeah sorry about that. The issue is not with your laws, it's with our parcel carriers. We're always hoping to expand, but it's not totally within our control. Maybe some day.

Mcusta designs have been on my wish list for a number of years and this is certainly one of their most elegant. I grew up carrying a knife every day and I worked in wine for years so I continue to always have a knife handy. My beaters are Griptilians and Delicas but I guess I'm a bit of a collector as I do own some valuable knives that don't get used much. For me knives are as much art as utility. Glad to have gotten in on this drop. Nice price break!

No clip and no lanyard hole? Why? How much does a hole cost! I really wanted one and it would have looked nice with a lanyard on it. I wonder if I could drill one out 🤔

Got my knife today. Beautiful. Two quick things about it id like to know: First the pattern on the blade is the same as in the pictures. I dont mean similar. I mean the exact same. Which made me look more closely at the blades of the knives presented in the photos. They too are the exact same. How is this possible if you are making actual "Damascus" blades? Do you mean it is etched to look like Damascus?
The second point is much easier. Remove the "lanyard hole" from the feature list. There is clearly none on the knife.

Jsampmcusta makes these knives with VG10 steel core sandwitched between 33 layers of damaskus which is factory stock. comes in rather large sizes and while cutted pattern is continous and very similar between close cutted pieces. I had a few over the years and pattern was not same except in one case where I bought two of the same knives. That said I can assure you damaskus is "real", I grinded one of mines and reetched to bring the pattern visibility ;).
