Exactly what I was expecting, if not a little more
I was worried it would arrive slightly warped, because resin can do that and I do live in a high-heat, high-humidity area. It definitely wasn't warped and arrived looking just like I expected it to. Frankly, the box it was in was slightly higher quality than I was expecting.
It's smooth, the bumpers do the job you'd expect, and I'm pleased to have gotten it.
Unfortunately, mine turned out to be bent. Too bent to be usable. I've contacted Drop support 2 weeks ago, and got no reply yet. Maybe putting out a review might help? The wrist rest does look fantastic, and would feel fantastic too if it wasn't a banana.
(This review will be revised in the future)
EDIT:
I am thankful for the reply, and refund that Drop offered me, so I do change the review. Now I hope there is a way this wrist rest is fixable in some way? Kinda wary of warming/heating it up, I have never worked with resin myself.
IronSunsetscalesMight had this on a slightly lesser scale. Did the top portion of the resin look correct on yours? Mine just has what looks like pen marks instead of the glitter swirls from the pictures.
GrieVelornYeah the top looks fine on mine really, no marks or anything of the like, I even got lucky as the gears in mine didn't show any obvious spruce marks or anything either.
Visually this thing looks great, really ties a desk together.
However I had 2 problems once I started using it.
The first is a smaller one, but the gears themselves in mine had a lot of mold lines and flash. Making them look way more plastic than I was expecting. I was not under the impression they would be metal, I knew they would be plastic but this was a little more than I thought they would be.
The second is a bigger one for me, it doesn't sit flat. I haven't figured out if it's the resin or the rubber feet but the top right corner is much higher than the others. So I have to apply force to the wrest or it will wobble when I type. So I will have to either see about flattening the resin or get a thicker rubber foot not sure yet.
That said I would still recommend it, and I do wish I had also picked up the red and silver one as well. I am pretty sure that the bigger issue I had was a once off problem. The gears I can mostly live with, the wobble is a little tougher.
EDIT: Dropping to 2 star in looking at how mine in particular came out compared to others.
moonkeyThanks! Something else to note that I realized after using it a bit. It looks like the bottom colored resin had the clear resin poured on the wrong side. All the other photos I see have this nice glitter cloud effect, but mine just has tiny lines. The bottom of the board does have the cloud effect. Again I assume this is another one off issue, but it is disappointing to have all these tiny issues start pilling up.
Great quality wrist rest. Base color has a nice marbling and a subtle sparkle. Honestly the gears are a little chintzy, but you already know that from the pics. Resin is really smooth with nice, rounded edges, and the rubber bumpers do a fantastic job of keeping this thing in place, unlike anything on any wood rest I've owned.
