LeonhIt's really not that bad - I use this for work in confined spaces and find it fool proof to switch modes whilst in use. I even swap batteries without removing it. With gloves on.
pganzeI bought the Crown 60 on MassDrop a while back. I love it and it saved me quite a bit of money. So “MassDrop is never really a good deal” is incorrect and frankly not fair.
KavikExcellent point, Li-On batteries are a fire hazard, remember what happened to an early 787 on the ground in Japan: Li-On batteries caught fire and it was incredibly difficult to put out.
There is basically no warranty on these.
My nitecore NU20 headlamp was having problems. They asked me to take pictures and video, provide the invoice and serial number.
After all that run around, they told me I needed to ship it to china for repair at a cost higher than the value of the light.
Nitcore's prices are a little to premium to not have local warranty available.
lailokenAs much as I really love the MassDrop (Drop) concept, I have been baffled as to why I have not found any of the items promoted (that I want, including this one) for lower than what I can google and find it. To be fair, AliExpress does offer it cheaper due to battery options. I would absolutely by the unit for $50.26 without the battery and order my own "Quality" battery. The price from AliExpress, free shipping also but also includes FREE TAX, including the same battery as listed with Drop (3400 mAh), is the same money, $59.95.
Just Received the Nitecore HC65- Seems to be well made and the 5 yr warranty is reassuring BUT the unit I received was obviously used. The box was torn open and had been retaped and there was dirt on the endcap. The contents otherwise did not appear to have been unpacked. WTF??? I generally don't mind buying open box merchandise but this should have been disclosed on the original listing. I'm going to take a guess, since this is sold through Amazon, I suspect it was a returned product. Again Mass Drop WTF???
Poi50nI have this light (bought elsewhere), and I've had it out in decent rains (like, not gale force winds driving rain, but enough to have made my trips out with the dog uncomfortable) and it hasn't developed any problems.
I have had a few headlamps over the last couple of years or so. With each of them I have found that, with a bit of wearing, the straps loose their elasticity and become useless. Any of that with this one?
Davidsh331There are a few YouTube videos that explain how to replace the head strap with shock cord. This is specifically for the Nitecore 25, but it may give you some ideas for other versions.
