Hey MassDrop, You really should nix the pics with the model wearing them backwards. On a product note, these are awesome. I bought my son a pair of them last Drop. Mine have lasted 20 years. At Massdrop's price that's only $2.50 a year.

Maybe in general, and certainly moreso in NA, mate, but by itself the advice of “if you don’t harass snakes they won’t bite you” is crap advice in Australia, India and through into SE Asia and the Middle East, where there are plenty of venomous species that can be rather aggressive. Make all the noise you want, its a good idea and it’ll scare off most - but if an Eastern Brown, Coastal Taipan, or in India a Krait or a Russell’s Viper is feeling tetchy, you’re $41t out of luck. https://environment.des.qld.gov.au/wildlife/livingwith/snakes/near-you/snakes_of_southeast_queensland.html
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-44253586 Hell, a couple of weeks ago I saw a lady bitten by a carpet snake (non-venomous python) in the local national park, about 5km from the CBD. Sure, it was well camouflaged and sleeping in amongst the roots of a tree, and she accidentally stepped ON the snake - I’m not sure who was more surprised, the nice lady or the poor bugger that bit her! Carpet snakes are generally cool, decent animals to live near, as they keep vermin populations down (particularly in the roofs of old houses) and are not a big worry. Nevertheless, it was a nasty bite, because pythons (and similarly non-venomous snakes) don’t do the fairly standard venomous snake strike/inject/let go/wait for prey to die/feast. Pythons tend to have backward facing fangs to hang on to their prey. ... and this carpet snake hung on, so the lady had a few kilos of snek attached to her calf for 10-20 seconds, which she found somewhat disconcerting. After her hopping about for a bit, it let go and skulked off into the nearby creek to have a long hard think about itself. My family did some basic first aid, called the ambulance, and the lady is fine, BTW. TL;DR - Dont walk through long grass if you can help it, make lots of noise if you do, be prepared that some species of venomous snake will aggressively have a crack at you even if you do all the right things - and any snake will have a go at you if accidentally surprised - and don’t take snake advice from random people on the Internet, even me. In other news, gaiters are great, they act as an extra layer of (semi-) protection, and keep muck out of your boots!

I have own these and they have seen over 100 days of abuse scrambling over rocks and through heavy brush. They are by far the best built gaiters I have seen. The only damage they took over this time was to the rubber straps, which are actually rubber coated heavy duty nylon. Some rubber started chipping off, but that is totally expected given my use.

I wish this drop included the XXL size for men's. Guys with big feet (size 14) never get any love...

gimpsterThe struggle is real my fellow large footed friend. Danner-drops occasionally have a 14 but that doesn’t help either one of us with this drop. Massdrop occasionally saves me money, I guess.

I have contacted the OR for their recommendation, and a helpful guy named Ryan strongly advised me to go for the regular, and not Expedition model: "...expeditions have a wider bottom opening to accomodate ski boots, and your Salomons (x ultra 3 mid gtx) would be too narrow to make a good fit on the Expeditions." Maybe thats obvious but I did not know that, hope this helps.

Can anyone explain how to determine what size to get or provide a sizing chart?

Yes, this is useful if you have thin-ish legs but what if thicker than expected for the shoe size? The reason i ask is ive tried sizes higher than my appropriate shoe size and still struggled to fit. Im not overweight either.

I would say I fit in your boat, I am blessed lol with huge calves, they will not let pants slides down, like major cyclist legs. And for me, they fit fine for me in XL. I'm around 6.0ft and 215lbs.
