mylaptopisdeadtotally compatible, in fact programming it is debatably easier on mac then on windows. But it is default compatible with OSX and the default layout is basically mac modifiers. Using it on my macbook now.

You don't have to initially program the keyboard; it has a default layout. You only need to reprogram it if you want it to do something different. There are many resources out there on how to do it; search "planck firmware guide"

mylaptopisdeadThe hardest part is the programming and that's not that hard. Ok hoping before these finish fulfilling I'll have a decent video up of me programming on a Mac. i think there's a deficit in end to end instruction examples so I want to do a little tutorial about it in video format.
And to be clear it's actually pretty easy to do both.

it took a few hours for her to do this board in between studying breaks. She did a good job, and she'd never soldered welded at all before.
Expect to go back and touch up some joints as you get better, it's totally normal.
