What's with all the hate for this laptop? I'm sure the build quality is excellent and the design looks awesome. Sure the hardware isn't the latest, but how many people own Macs that have integrated graphics and paid $2000+ ? For this design language, $1300 seems just about right.
When did you install it? Was it pretty recently? Did you install the home version, pro version, or education version? Each act a bit differently, and given that MS is no longer giving out licenses, they may have curtailed the ads for those that pay for it.
Here's an article that talks about the settings, what shows up, and how to remove them. It's about a year old, but I still see some of these ads - specially ones from the MS Store.

Guess you only buy this for the looks and the logo, it's got DDR3 memory and no dedicated graphics. Makes it hard to justify dropping more than a grand on it.
In the middle of 2018, a dual core i7 with DDR3 ram, no dedicated Graphic card, no real 4k touch screen, no thunderbolt 3, costs more than $1000...... Massdrop, some time, you just like to make hard jokes, right?
Napoleonove7it was porsche decision to introduce these specs at such a high launch price at launch
really the name brand is the only reason the price is still higher than the competition
Napoleonove7There is a thunderbolt in this, and for 1200 where is there a leptop with 520 gb and 16 ram, not talking about the 2 in 1 and the build quality.
Original price: $2,499.992017 - Real (hidden) price without the word "Porsche": $1,499.992018 - Look seriously at the specs: price: $999.99
This ain't a bargain at all.
Massdrop sometimes forget it's a place for geeks who want quality, not to showoff.
Nice design and all, but it's only $100 more on Newegg with no tax for most folks and free shipping. As others have also pointed out, it's a little dated specification wise. If it had a dGPU it might be far more interesting.
Porsche Design do seem to have a large degree of lunacy associated with their designs... case in the point, the 911 Sound Bar... https://www.porsche-design.com/en/Electronics/Sound/911-Soundbar.html
BlueCrownedYeeees.... But I still wouldn't have it, I don't think I want the sound bar to be the focus point, I want what's coming out of it to be what people are focusing on, rather than "holy $h!t - WTF is THAT under your television?"
