One of only 98 pieces in existence, the limited-edition QSP Piglet looks more like an artifact than an EDC folder. However, thanks to its premium construction and killer looks, the last place you’ll want to leave it is sitting in a drawer Read More
I spoke with these folks and the knife, not this one, but another with RN scales would be non-returnable if I thot the scales were ugly. The whole idea in ponying up mo' money is for beautiful scales. If I get an ugly set, I want to return them (at no cost) and have the next one (or many inspected) so I will have a pretty one. This is a great price, but I'm not much of a gambler. KC will hand inspect any knife for whatever I ask them to. I was called once and told the the knife I wanted did not exist, none of the instock knives had a blade that was centered. KC has customer service as good as anyone that I have dealt with. It certainly exceeded my expectations. Hey, Dropster. What is so damn hard about opening the box and looking at the knife. It might cost you a bit of time, but I deeply believe that it would increase your sales.
Not tempting to me, not a thumb stud guy. Plus agree with buying in person as I am not sure I would like the grip of the Raffir Noble scales. Old arthritic hands.
RunebobRaffir Noble feels like an acrylic material, a lot like Kirinite on the Chaparral I had with RN scales. It's not bad, kind of got that 'mother of bowling ball' feel to it
Harking back to reviews after delivery of the Spyderco Chapparal with raffir scales, people were disappointed in the pattern (it can be pretty random due to the process) - the overwhelming advice was to buy raffir scales in person so you can see what you get prior to purchase. Seems like this advice would apply here.
PNWNativeyeah I scale swapped my CF and RN Chaparrals (the RN one I bought new, with monogram because I'm a goddamned dork and figured the Chap was the perfect office knife) because my RN scales had the mesh facing sort of outward instead of more parallel to the face of the scales, so they had large sections that just looked like acrylic.
But it looks like the Piglet uses a different style of Raffir Noble, 'moon' or whatever, looks like they might be putting more effort into keeping the mesh oriented properly while making the material
It's cool to see more and more companies using Damasteel. RWL34 (basically CPM-154) and PMC27 (basically the powdered metal version of 12c27) is a tough combination to beat when it comes to stainless damascus.
HCAvNGood catch. I'm guessing it's just a typo. DS93X is trademarked by Damasteel and if you go to the QSP site, it says they are using Vinland patterned Damasteel. :)
The first time Drop offered it, it was around $280. And I was arguing that at $280 it was a $20 savings which most folks would see as significant.
I'm pretty sure that puts us both on the same side of your argument, so I dunno, bro, ARE we smoking crack? You tell me.
