Although the drop is over I came across this fine piece at my local costco. I prefer the likes of the ninja turtle, or the blacked out hammy field watch, but from what it seems this drop was competitively priced..

Complete watch noob here but I like the looks of this one. One question for you watch snobs, how do they get the stainless steel black? Is it paint or some kind of ceramic coat or better yet, a dlc coating. I'm concerned with the wear of the finish. Cheers.

JakobI assume is DLC Diamond -Like Carbon Coating. Is a extremly hard coating. A film of nano carbon molecules with the hardness close to the diamond hardness. Cheers

I can't imagine Drop advertising and selling counterfeit or illegitimate product on their site. Why would they risk their reputation and potentially put them selves in a legal situation. They must do some background on their vendors and have them provide proof that the product is legitimate. If the product comes with all the paperwork, and Drop advertises that Raymond Weil will honor the warranty, that's enough proof that watch is authentic.
the inflated retail price they use to exagerate the amount of a deal they are offering borders on con game. I'd love to know where they are selling these for $1995? I only see $7-800. So this is a decent deal still, just not a $1300 discount as they are implying.

Not true. MSRP is the suggested price. The seller can sell it for whatever price they want.

AbdolrezaSorry, Authorized Dealers are specifically limited in their ability to discount off of the MSRP. It is contractual, and hence, non-negotiable. Whatever deal was agreed to in the beginning is the max, not "whatever they want".

Again, hate to keep bringing it up, but would it kill someone to get the lug to lug on these watch drops. I'm guessing this one is at least a 52mm based on the photo which would mean you would need at least an 8.25" wrist for it to not look stupid (lugs equal to wrist width or overhanging).

anyone know if this is a "proper" RWeil movement in the watch, or are they buying something cheaper off the shelf like a Ronda or ETA or ....

I wouldn’t say it’s not a genuine RW in fact it is with a swiss movement if you like the watch this is a good price there more exspensive everywhere else

Not a RW expert or anything but, in general, most Swiss watch companies use some form of an ETA movement until you step up several tiers in price from here. Tag Heuer, Oris, Glycine, Alpine...they all use some variation of an ETA or a clone, usually by Sellita. To get a true in-house, Swiss movement expect to pay at least a few thousand more than this. I own several Swiss made watches and all of them, save for my Omega Seamaster and Tudor Black Bay, outsource their movements. Producing a true in-house movement is crazy expensive and they pass that cost on to us as watch lovers. Hope this clears up any confusion. Cheers!
