I know there's a lot of "buyer beware" posts, but I ordered mine off this most recent drop, got it about 2 weeks ago, i've worn it almost every day since - great quality, no issues, i absolutely love it. hope the drop comes around again.
Sad to hear RPMWest is shut down, but given what other peoples' experiences have been, i'm not surprised. Sounds like they had it coming.
Jacket showed up and it had nice ykk zippers. I have one other rpmwest lightweight jacket and the massdrop version seems to be of even higher quality. Nice olive color as well. It's a shame they closed down, their chinos fit me perfect...
kreedIf you paid for a product they didn't send, you can contact your credit card company/bank and they will most likely refund your money, if RPMWest hasn't already
Like what everyone says, don't support RPMWest. They've had a history of some shady business practices.
- Stole/bought Gustin's distribution emails and spammed people.
- Cut off tags on t-shorts and rebrand them as theirs
- Give out store credit on returns days before they closed shop
Steer clear from this drop folks. I purchased mine a few months ago and have issues with the zipper getting stuck. I e-mailed RPMWEST and received no response and now I know why. I took it to my tailor and she explained that the seams near the zipper were sewn too close causing the zipper to catch.
She asked if it was an old jacket to which I responded I haven't even worn it once. She told me the zipper is of extremely poor quality as the fabric at the end of the zipper is already starting to tear and fray. She explained that better quality zippers have plastic reinforcement around this area to prevent this problem.
I had her tear out the entire zipper and will replace it once I supply her with a YKK zipper I bought online. For shame RPM....
dsandzSaw the other negative responses and figured I'd roll the dice anyway. Ended up cancelling because of this post. Dealt with zippers getting stuck on a jacket before and not willing to do it again. Thanks.
Ya guys should cancel this drop. Selling something that will have zero future customer support is making me question Massdrops ethics.
I've only participated in a few drops myself, with prices I could probably get on Amazon with prime so I dunno. Time to take to the usual outlets like Reddit to see if anyone else feels this way I guess.
Ya'll have a great concept here but with prices not really being that low, compared to just waiting for a sale, and this sort of unethical practice it needs to be broadcast all over to anyone who may want to use this site in the future.
I suggest you to think twice if you want to support this.
I bought a backpack through their Kickstarter campaign and it started falling apart. They asked me to send it back promising a fix or a replacement. I did so and never heard from them again.
I voiced my concerns on Kickstarter's comments section. What happened was that they actually replied some other people, but totally ignoring my post. Tried an email and PM on Kickstarter, none of that worked.
I don't think I can chargeback since I originally paid for the backpack almost a year ago.
What makes this case particularly nasty is that they must knew they're going to close and still asked me to send the goods back. Internationally. In total they owe me 200 USD.
Eh, I deal with enough small scrappy companies to be used to that. It sucks, but it's what happens when you don't have a fleet of customer service agents.
I can understand the customer service aspect, but lifting graphics, stealing email lists, and deceiving people about your products is another (avoidable) matter. Then there's the issue of them shutting down without any notice, leaving people with unfulfilled orders and others with store credit.
yes, it's unclear to me if this is a legitimate drop...? Can someone from mass drop verify? That in fact these jackets are in stock and will ship out, not from RPMwest, which no longer exists, but from a third party?
goalasoThanks for your interest on this drop. These are shipping to us directly from RPMWest. We secured the inventory before their announcement, and you can rest assured that this is a legitimate drop.
