Product Description
Larger than most fountain pens, the Schneider ID features an ergonomic, award-winning design that includes an elastomer grip molded to make the “proper” writing position feel more natural. The pen accepts both standard converters and standard international cartridges, and is appointed with a slightly flexible, chrome-plated, stainless steel nib that glides on paper offering smooth writing Read More
pellidonSchneider only makes this pen in a broad nib for righthanded users. There are other styles which Massdrop has offered in the past that are a M nib, such as Schenider Base Ftn Pen.
It writes smooth, but is a little overpriced, cost me 26 dollars where i could buy locally for twelve euros. Well okay, Massdrop is not really meant for Europeans...
mamamiauThe left handed nibs were designed to allow ink to flow in a "pushing the nib across the paper" as opposed to the "pulling" action a righty would do. I'm a lefty but not an overwriter, if I understand your meaning. My left hand sits below the writing line as I write. I hope this helps and would like to hear from other lefties who have used this or another Schneider Left handed fountain pen nib.
kkbertramThanks! I suspect the nib is meant for under-writers, like you. You push on an upstroke and on a horizontal (left to right) and pull on a downstroke, correct? I pull on an upstroke and push on a downstroke, just because I am holding the pen with the nib pointed more or less toward me! I probably won't know for sure unless I join the drop and try the pen. I have set a reminder so I can think about it.
Are the add on mechanical pencils ambidextrous because their doesn't seem to be an option to choose whic doesn't seem to be an option to choose which hand?
AAHHHHHYes! The fountain pen has a contoured rubber grip designed for either a right handed or left handed grip dependent on the version you purchase. The mechanical pencil and ballpoint do not have a contoured grip and can be used by either a lefty or a righty.
I picked up a lefty because I am one, but i guess Massdrop forgot that righties vastly outnumber lefties in this world and should have stocked accordingly.
