This was a present to someone in the family, who likes listening to music on the smart phone but so far has not invested much into listening gears. He listens to various kinds of music and says that the experience is perfectly OK for him. In my experience, better quality headphones often ruin the listening experience of not too high quality music (which can be a frustrating experience). A lot of people complain about this phone not being too strong in the treble region. This helps with lots of YouTube music which tend to be very sibilant on good headphones. So, to sum up: good choice for a casual listener who wants comfort and good listening experience with various genres and levels of recording quality. update:
the obvious downside: only one (3 metre) cable is provided, which has the quarter inch plug. So, after buying a shorter cable with the 3.5 mm plug and possibly the adaptor from 6.5 mm to 3.5 mm (which I did to make the present better usable), the price reaches the price of the 599 SE (Amazon) discounted price, which I ended up buying for myself and am perfectly satisfied with it as the standard headphones with my phone.

tiborhHow do they work with modern phones considering the 🎧 jack is mostly gone nowadays?

Debian10Luckily all our phones have a jack, (old Samsung, Redmi 8) Medium category phones are quite easy to find with a jack. My guess is that it would easily work with a modern USB-C to jack connectors as well. (Of course, one would need to test that to make sure.) And yes, it would look quite error prone using two adaptors at the end of the cable. (quarter inch to 3.5mm + the usb-c adaptor)

tiborhI just picked-up a 2-Pack of gold-plated adapters on Amazon for around $6 and had them in a day or two with my free Prime shipping. Aside from my mobile-specific devices, I find that most desktop-devices do come in 1/4” by default, Take the O2 Amp for example. Many Chi-Fi desktop tube preamps and other devices also come in 1/4”. Even home “rack” gear, such as receivers and the like traditionally port out headphones to 1/4”. For a decent pair of sub-$100 cans, no-frills is to be expected, especially these days where “cost cutting” is everywhere. The cans themselves are not bad, easy to EQ, sound great with a Chi-Fi tube preamp, and scale well with every amp that I tried them on. It’s a bargain for the price, but the cons will absolutely come with the pros at this price-point. If the cans work for you, or rather could work for you, I’d say to just buy them along with an inexpensive Amazon adapter for a couple bucks and you’ll be all set! Those “extras” come standard at a slightly higher price-point, so you will need to justify what works for you. At this price-point, I have absolutely no problem recommending these!

SuperFlyEDSguyone thing, not all adapters are supported by all phones. e.g. Samsung S21 is really picky. (luckily, not my price bracket)

tiborhYou should only run into compatibility issues with TRRS adapters, not with standard TRS. The extra conductor on the TRRS variety is what adds the microphone, which shouldn’t be an issue here as these don’t have a mic anyways. Personally, I never use audio gear with a mic due to signal degradation and crosstalk since the mic only adds one more thing to share on the common ground. If I’m using my phone to enjoy listening, that’s it, it’ll be in airplane mode until I’m done. Basically, regarding these headphones, they’re standard TRS as they don’t have a microphone, so you hopefully shouldn’t have any issues with the adapters that I originally mentioned. Be well. ✌️
