Just get m0, best sound from all the Ms, powerful amp too, takes Pinnacle easy, sounds great with Audio Technika 50x, amazing with Dune 2000j. I have m1 but use it only as transport with Centrance DACportabl.

blazer39For my taste it is very balanced, I am not a basshead but you can use EQ to adjust frequencies levels, again I do not use EQ:). As a summery, I tried all Ms, even bought M1 as transport (M0 was not produced yet) but love and listen as it is only M0 (besides other DAPs I own).

For those of you pining for the M0. While it's a very nice sounding little player, the lack of tactile controls on such a small device is a major issue for most people (especially guys).
I could see teenage Japanese girls becoming adept with it but I spent 2 days with the M0 before i returned it. WAY too much work to do anything with other than hit Play and leave it be.

KestrelXI had the same experience with M0. It sounds incredible, but the small size and only having the touch screen to work with made it ultimately not worth it. It didn't help that the touch screen didn't seem to respond when I thought I was hitting the right spot. Unfortunately, the M0 has the best DAC in the Shanling lineup currently (I think, haven't checked in a while). Need to wait for them to release some larger, more yieldly products.

Nightf0xxAfter many years of experience with electronics (I am electronics engineer) I do not rely on reviews anymore, I look sometimes on Amazon or here at Massdrop where people freely express their impressions, they are mostly not bribed by industry. Besides I have musical education (piano) and trust my hearing more than anything else, also I spend at least couple hours listening new device on specially selected tracks to get thorough impression. What I read is that people are annoyed by M0 UI, it is difficult to us for people with big hands, mine are just regular and I have no problem at all. However, taste and music choice and hearing vary greatly - therefore all my advice is IMHO:).

This is a piece of GARBAGE. It's hard to turn on. Sometimes I have to fiddle with it for a very long time to just to get it to turn on. It often suddenly drops recognition of a micro-sd card that it's already using. I then have to take the card out, re-insert, and reboot. Also when the unit is charging, it's almost impossible to get it to play. You have to charge it fully and then unplug the usb cable before it will play. GARBAGE. With the money I've spent on lousy Chinese units like this, I could have bought a nice Sony. The problem is that all or most Sonys now available won't play from a memory card, and for me that's a deal breaker. So I remain a pathetic sucker, shelling out for one garbage Chinese unit after another until I find one that works....

massdropper5Sounds like Sony picked up on the Apple strategy of big profit: storage. For years I've always said the best job in he word is the guy that runs the division in Apple responsible for storage on their mobile devices. Apple easily charges 3X+ over RETAIL for storage upgrades. I would guess Sony is doing the same.
