Like fr49200 mentioned in an earlier drop, The Professor of Tolarian Community College gave these lifepads a B rating stating that he liked the premium quality and size but that he wished they came with something to hold a small pen (I would assume like a loop or a gap at the top of the spine). He also pointed out that when you run out of pages you would need a new life pad as these are not refillable. You can see his review at the bottom of this comment at 2:38.

My personal experience with them mirrors his comments, I keep finding myself digging around for my pen when setting up for a new match. As to needing refills, the pad comes with 90 pages and once you run out you might need to use the back but i've had mine for a year and still haven't run out yet. The Sign in Blood lifepads MSRP for $10.99 each but once you add in tax and shipping for two you are looking at $25.78. At $18.99+$5.00s&h the drop is a ok deal, but at the full discount: $14.99+$5.00 it's a great deal.

Laser123454321Yeah, this is a super accurate review. Had mine for half a year now and I love it to death, but not looking forward to having to buy a new one when I run out of pages.
Other things worth noting: There's a little section in the back which is super useful for holding cards, especially if you like to sift through post-draft chaff for tokens (like I do). All the pages have a "Notes" section on the underside, which is very convenient if somebody suggests an edit to your decklist (a godsend for EDH). They're also perforated so you can give people your phone number/Facebook/whatever for future Magic meetups.
TLDR: a good drop; I highly recommend. Keeping life on paper is a good habit anyways.

I just wish it was refillable. Then i'd probably get these. I'm just a casual player and since i have to take numerous dice out to keep track of tokens and what not for all my edh decks i feel like i'd rather just use dice to keep track of life anyways. Although for my oloro deck it would definitely make things easier, but not worth the money for me personally. I think i will eventually switch to pen and paper when i finally get around to getting actual tokens for all my decks. Then we will see. Hopefully they will have a refillable version by then. But probably the refillable pads will cost almost as much so mite as well keep it non refillable. This seems like a quality product so if it had made sense to make the notebook like that in the first place im sure the designers would have done it.

EscManYeah the refillable aspect gives me pause too. If I didn't just pull the trigger on the Kangaroo Journal (which is refillable), I'd have snapped up these for sure.
Hey Zack, it is designed for MTG. On the listing page, if you check out the picture of the book open you can see that the pages are laid out specifically keeping track of your life totals and other important information like poison counters.

Very nice looking. I'm just not sure if it's worth the $19 for only 2.

How's the paper quality in these products? Is it Fountain Pen friendly?

Its a little pricey but considering each pad should last me about a year as often as I get to play and the glowing recommendation the Professor at Tolarian Community College gave, $20 bucks after shipping doesn't feel too bad. Besides, if you are playing MTG what is $20 in the grand scheme of things?

A little pricey, but I was actually looking at these yesterday and they were sold out at Sign In Blood and ManaLeak UK. Did Massdrop buy them all up at Wholesale???

i personally use these regularly since i first discovered them and they are very high quality. i play regularly and at store locals about 3-4 times a week and they hold up very well to abuse. The papers are sturdy and haven't fallen at the seams or anything. They are also preforated at the top so you can remove pages without worrying about breaking the bonding. Tolarion Community College has a great video talking about the quality of the product and I agree with him 100%; its a great quality product if you're into having a nice sweet way of keeping track of your life totals.
