Hey I’m sick to my stomach. I had my wife get ill and go into the hospital during this drop and while I swore I had bought in on this drop it seems I didn’t. Are you guys gonna be dropping this deal on the A1e again any time soon or am I screwed. I feel like such a d bag with me asking for the original drop and commenting so excited when you came through. I am going to buy this tv but don’t want to buy it only to see you guys drop it again. Any help would be really appreciated. Oh and the wife pulled through despite all my hard work. Lol. Jk.
OneLove" Got out the shower and it was gone. "
Maybe if he had stayed in shower, it would still be there. Well good news, its back (too bad, its slightly outside my budget, plus got myself B7a) otherwise I would had loved to get myself this because I still have sony bravia from 2010 which still works great (thats quality)
Have been waiting to get in on this for the 65"... except now other places have it for less (dell.com for example is giving $500 gift card if you buy for $3100).
What are the expected drop price on lg 55inch and sony A8F? It will come down to Processing speed and aesthetics as long as the price is +/-200 dollars from each other. After reading on rting, it seems like LG comes with no option to disable ads perm. while Sony has no ads.
I will never let a friend buy a Smart TV, ESPECIALLY a Sony, without protesting. My current Sony TV has been unsatisfactory and a hassle.
The 55" 1080p screen works splendidly. But it's got smart features that suck, or that prevent it from functioning normally, ever.
The first feature that sucks is that your TV now advertises to you in your home. Fuck that.
As for the dysfunctions:
-sometimes it won't turn on, and has to be unplugged and plugged back in. I assume this is because it's an Android device and merely turning it "off" is more of a hibernation/lock mode, which must be buggy.
-significant delay on adjusting volume, sometimes the displayed number/bar freezes but the volume keeps rising. Sometimes it just doesn't work.
-intermittently it won't find the Wi-Fi, and must be manually reset.
-Although sometimes, it finds the Wi-Fi normally, and just select apps (like Netflix) won't access the internet. "Something happened." Resetting the app or the tv fixes this temporarily.
It started under warranty, so my wife called and they had the audacity to tell her it was normal, and to replace the remote batteries. WHAT!? When I called and was more persistent, they wouldn't replace my tv, instead they sent it in for "repairs". It came back doing all the same things within two weeks, which leads me to believe this actually IS normal for Sony smart TVs.
We will be resubmitting our warrant request, now out of warranty, and I'm not hopeful.
But the thing that outrages me the most is that it worked FINE before they started trying to push patches to the TV. They broke my perfectly fine TV and now they won't fix it.
Never get a smart tv. A good screen (dumb tv) will last you over a decade, but a smart TV, especially a Sony in my opinion, won't last.
rpm604Wow never considered those things but it makes sense. What can you do though? Any high end tv now is powered by its OS. No more dumb monitors (which I prefer). 😤
rpm604So something happened to you once and that means nobody should ever buy that thing again or anything like it. Even though everything you can buy now is like that thing. Got it.
wanted to share another note, if you guys don't want to go with the soundbar add on or wanted more time to figure out a sound solution, just FYI the OEM audio on the TV is probably the best built in audio i've ever heard for a tv this thin. you can get by, by adding a 100 dollar subwoofer via the headphone jack out and changing the headphone jack mode to "subwoofer" in the android setttings. poor man's audio system that does a very good job for 100 bucks.
Was thinking of getting going in on the new drop but was also wondering about extended warranty through Sony if you could provide any info if this is possible.
ogmiami136You will have a fully registered warranty through Sony. All that is required from Sony to be able to extend your warranty services is that you have fully registered the product with them and purchase within a limited amount of time. Normally that time period is within 30 days of purchase but it might be longer.
I am disliking how people just can't read anymore. If you are planning on joining than why won't you take few more steps to read comments and do little bit search, unless you are only here to discreadit MD.
