I would not want to rely on this compass other than to give me a ‘reasonable’ sense of direction. But, for what it does, being small, handy, sturdy, it does very well. A good value.
It's currently clipped to the top of a Revelate Egress Pocket I'm using as a small handlebar bag, and is very useful. Sometimes Google Maps says "go in direction X" but it's not easy to tell which way that is without a compass. Handy in twisty city streets too.
I bought a handful of these as cheap gifts. Given their horrible accuracy (they don't even agree amongst themselves where north is) I won't even give them away. Bummer.
The Suunto Clipper Compass was all that I used for the PCT. It is small, lightweight, and conveniently clipped to my pack harness. No searching for it and no losing it. I continue to use one today as my ultralight way to use my maps. Cheap, light, small and accurate-- meets my ultralight standards! Cheers, Rags
I'm not sure if I received the same compass as others. As I find it to be low in quality. It's fidgety and slow to accurately find north.
Not worth being on massdrop.
