Let me preface this review by saying that, prior to making this purchase, I already owned the excellent bolt action style pens offered by Tactile Turn and several of the other prominent makers in this market space. While I didn’t expect this simple push button model to be nearly as satisfying to operate as the others, I still liked its looks and talked myself into buying it as a pen that I would use predominantly at work. Then a funny thing happened. Once in hand for a relatively short period of time, I began to realize that the manipulation of the simple click action on this extremely solid, robust and well built model, was every bit as satisfying as the deployment mechanisms of its bolt action siblings - and dare I say, perhaps even a tad more. Accuse me of heresy if you will, but this has quickly become my favorite of the bunch. Admittedly, there’s something novel about the new bolt action designs that are springing up all over. But that novelty has the potential at least to gradually wear off. It’s at this point, with the Mover & Shaker in hand, that you can begin to appreciate the feeling you get when repeating a familiar action you’ve done all your life, in the wholly unfamiliar and terrific new way that comes from operating a pen of this quality. You can see, feel and hear the precision, the tolerances and the overall engineering that has gone into this design. And ultimately, you’ll find yourself sitting there clicking the pen repeatedly for no other reason than it’s simply a joy to do so. I went with the titanium model, and for my money, it’s the perfect weight and heft to compliment the pen’s dimensions. The aluminum would feel light to me and the steel, perhaps a tad too heavy. Of course, that’s very much a subjective analysis and YMMV. I will also point out that, once maybe every 200 or 300 clicks, the clicker won’t depress completely smoothly and will feel like it’s hanging up on something internally. The fix is pretty simple - just click the pen again and the problem is solved for another 300 actuations. I understand there’s another, more permanent resolution that’s being offered by the manufacturer, but I couldn’t possibly imagine pursuing it given how wonderfully the pen operates 99.995% of the time. Still, I just want to be totally up front with any of the anal retentive/OCD types out there who might have their lives ruined by such an occurrence. ;-) By way of a final endorsement, I will add this. If I were unfortunate enough to lose any of the pens I’ve referenced in this review, the Mover & Shaker is the only one I can positively guarantee you I would seek to replace.

This is my 3rd pen by Tactile Turn. I love them all, now. When I received my third there was a hitch in the mechanism. I emailed the owner, worried he'd refer me back to Massdrop, but he responded within minutes and sent me a new mechanism without hesitation. It arrived within a couple of days and now it works perfectly. Thanks Will.

I purchased the Titanium Shaker. It is a beautiful pen, flawlessly finished. The weight is just right and it is well balanced. The refill writes smoothly. However, the clicking mechanism is not as good as the generation 1 Shaker that I already owned. It works only sporadically. Click it once and it works and then click it again, but nothing happens. I have to repeatedly click it to activate or retract the refill. I am of the opinion that this clicker is defective. I believe that these are manufactured by Tactile Turn instead of Schmidt. They are supposed to be an improvement and last longer, but this one does not prove it. I sent a couple of emails to Will Hodges and finally was able to get a replacement clicker. The new clicker works very smoothly. The fit and finish on this pen is extraordinary, but the clicking mechanism, evidently, is a hit or miss proposition. Service after the sale is also lacking in my recent experience. I rated this one 4 stars due to the clicker and lack of email response.

Was very disappointed in this pen. Machining on the clicking mechanism was rough and sloppy, already showing a lot of wear before even putting any use on the pen. When pushing it in, it often gets stuck, taking multiple pushes to get it to engage or disengage.

Meh, spendy for what you get
Two stars is probably generous. The actual mechanics of the pen are less then stellar. The pen sticks often. I’m not sure if it needs to be “worked” or broken in but it’s machined so I’d think for the money you pay any rough edges would have been polished so the pen functions smoothly. The pen filler that came with it is garbage as well. Skips. Needs to be replaced right off the bat. I wouldn’t recommend this purchase which is unfortunate because I’m a pen freak and want to love it.

Writes great and looks great. i got the green anodized one with schmidt cartridge. Looks much better than the pictures. Texture makes the grip easy. I thought the fisher refill had to be the best out there, but the schmidt 9000 has me impressed. My only complaint is that the clicker button is not 100% reliable, compared to a disposable pen that just clicks every time.

I take back my remark, it looks like this video was made before they created a new original mechanism

High quality, good gripping surface.
This pen is just a tad large (long) to comfortably ride in my shirt pocket, so a star off, otherwise it's great.

Quality Full-Size Pen!
I got this pen to replace the Pilot G2 I had been carrying for work. I sprung for the titanium version because I wanted something heftier than aluminum, but not so much as the brass or copper. For my use, which is brief stints of writing, the weight is perfect. Enough heft to give it a solid, premium feel, not so hefty as to be fatiguing in short sessions. One of the nicest features is the texturing on the barrel. This texturing spans the entire length of the barrel, and ensures a secure grip without rubber (which can get sticky and trap lint and dirt). The clicking mechanism is custom, and has a long throw to it. It works well, and while other reviews stated it jams I've only been able to replicate this by actuating it rapidly when fidgeting. With the texturing to aid it, the clip works well and holds securely. This is a well built pen, and feels great to write with. It accepts a large number of refills so there's a good chance your favorite will fit in this pen. Unfortunately this pen doesn't work for me. It is the same length as a G2, however the clip sits further down the barrel. This means that the clicking mechanism is much more prominent when clipped in a pocket. This coupled with how thick the button has lead to the pen deploying in my pocket on more than one occasion. In a front pocket bending over can actuate the mechanism, and when in a back pocket it can catch when you're going to sit down. If you carry your pen in a briefcase, purse, or shirt pocket, this may be the pen for you. It is a great full-sized writer, with quality workmanship behind it!
