Wow, the hate is strong here...hoping that the second batch doesn't ship before the first batch? What are you, 10 year olds? If I can't have it on time, then no one else can? We were given an unique opportunity to buy this beautiful, custom made keyboard, in which people (matt3o) put their time and effort and most of the comments here are far from encouraging. You have to understand, that you're not buying a finished product and many details can go wrong during the manufacturing process. Blaming Massdrop is not going to accomplish anything, I believe they are doing what they can to make everyone here (that means their customers) happy. But imagine you're in their position - what would you do? They post updates when they have new relevant information from manufacturers. There's no point in posting updates everyday when nothing has changed. They can't do much to speed up the manufacturing process now. I believe they went with who they believe were the right suppliers for this group buy, because every decision they make is also reflected on them. Try organizing group buys like this one, but with no hiccups whatsoever - I guarantee that people will start throwing money at you. I'm also in the first batch, but I'd have no problem if second batch got (for whatever reason) shipped out earlier. If that happened, I believe they would have better reason for that rather than just "first batch? nah, let's ship out the second batch first, because f*ck you". Sure, at first thought, it makes no sense - they could just use the keyboards from the second batch and ship it to people from the first batch, right? Wrong. We can't see all the details in the manufacturing process, maybe the batches are being done in parallel, but there are some problems with the first one. It happens. And since there are multiple versions of the layout and keys we could choose from, mixing things up would only create more chaos. Just the thoughts I got during my morning coffee, hope no one gets offended...
lizardi'm not blaming massdrop.....nor am I 10 years old.....no one here is investing in new technology a la occulus rift, we invested in a beautiful product that no doubt will be great when delivered. What people rightfully have reason to be frustrated with is a manufacturer that seemingly has poor project planning and didn't (at least at the surface level) prepare contingencies on......you can't compare a "Manufactured" product, to a ground up new piece of technology.....this is stamping out pcb's, frames, etc, straight up line manufacturing....if there are delays etc, all of that goes into a project plan and you commit to getting your product together with and including issues in manufacturing.....I'm not really frustrated at all, and am excited to get my product, but I would hope that any future dealings with this manufacturer would be limited
