Topre Realforce 91U JIS Layout Keyboard

The Topre Realforce 91U is made in the Japanese standard JIS layout, which features a smaller (2.5U) space bar and a smaller right-hand shift key to make room for four extra keys. Comprising 91 keys, this board is outfitted with Topre’s electrostatic capacitive switches, which are hailed for their tactile comfort and long lasting properties. As for the keycaps, they are made from PBT: a durable plastic that will not wear out over time unlike some other keycap materials. The base of the keyboard has adjustable feet to set your desired angle when typing, too. Also included are some colorful WASD keycaps to spice up the colorway.

Topre’s own electrostatic capacitive key switches offer two different typing experiences. You can either choose to have 30 to 45 grams of weighting in the letter area and 55 grams of weighting on the Esc key, or go for a uniform 30 grams across the whole board with the silent switches. Constructed in Japan and comprising metal springs and rubber domes, these unique switches are sought after for the snap feeling that’s produced when the switch is activated. Unlike most other switches, actuation of these switches occurs long before the key bottoms out, which helps prevent inflammation of the tendon sheath. The result? A super-tactile, long-lasting board.
