this version gets 33hrs of battery life at MAX power. the rechargeable gets 5 hours but it is half the weight. for an emergency home latern this d-cell version is a reasonable choice, with strong trade offs. for actual camping, i'd still want that 33hrs of battery but the weight (4lbs or so) is pretty brutal depending. also we are getting to the point with the number of rechargeable devices where the ability to keep things off my power banks is a plus. there is just a ton of energy in 6 d-cells (120,000 mah for alkaline).

Those things only belong in the giant Maglites. I can't think of anything else that uses D cells.

I can't testify to the quality of the UCO Gear Sitka Lantern because I haven't actually used it. This is my MAJOR complaint- Massdrop advertised this UCO Gear Sitka Lantern as being the RECHARGEABLE SITKA+ model, NOT the "basic" SITKA model requiring six (6) "D" cell batteries. The "basic" SITKA does not have the "Northern (colored) Lights" feature and, only has one (1) USB outlet as opposed to the SITKA+'s two USB's. I blame Massdrop for this "bait and switch" or gross misrepresentation mostly but, I'm not eager to do business with Massdrop or UCO, the manufacturer of the Sitka Lantern and other products again. Even several of the "reviews" stated that it was the SITKA+ rechargeable model. IT WASN'T. I make exceptional note that Massdrop changed the OVERVIEW and SPECS AFTER my purchase. This isn't the first time by any means Massdrop has been accused of false advertising. Buyer beware!

Huge disappointment. The original wording said this was rechargeable lithium ion or used D cells. There was no model option so I assumed it would be rechargeable.

Is this the Sitka+ model with the rechargeable battery or the regular Sitka that runs on 6 D-cells? UCO doesn’t seem to make a model that has both, unless I’m missing something. Thanks!

It says it has a rechargeable lithium battery but I'd like to know the mAh.

This is not the “plus”..... it is not lithium ion, it’s six D cell batteries for its power source. See image below from their site.
