Sike2Yeah the prices are insane because the total keyboard weighs in at the same amount as two Model-M keyboards combined.
These Model-Fs are very special and only for the hardcore addicts. Better get acquainted with a Model-M first before deciding upon a Model-F keyboard ; )
ElrickThe prices are also high because it's a specialty keyboard, not mass produced. But of course, people expecting Wal-mart prices for their keyboards and who actually need to have Model F technology explained to them should probably look elsewhere.
Thought-ArtistModel-Fs were the very first IBM keyboards made for the business community and have developed an almost mythic quality over the years.
Ellipse had been working to restore the Model-Ms over his lifetime and he was quite good at it so he knows every square millimeter of the Model-M and now the Model-F keyboards.
Just saying that when it comes to buying customized keyboards from an Artisan, always expect the costs to be higher than the normal keyboards available through retail chains. Also every custom keyboard I have purchased whether it be Kmacs, Cheats, and LZs all have one thing in common - they're heavier than normal keyboards due to the materials used in their designs.
This Model-M here is a very good example of a Buckling Spring (Still Made in the United States) so newbies not knowing anything about the BS can get close and personal with this one due to the low cost.
Will probably ship faster than Massdrop too lol...
