Any word on max weight? Will this only work with smartphones or can it handle a DSLR or medium sized mirrorless like a Fuji XT2.

CalaverasgrandeA mirrorless should be fine but keep in mind there's no rollers on this thing, just friction. The more weight, the less smoothly it will slide
