Best combo/dongle/interface/audio card fits the best to Sennheiser PC38X/PC37X?

more_vert
I have been considering Schiit Fulla 4, THX Onyx and Qudelix 5K for my PC38X seeking something better than apple/samsung dongle and there are so many awesome dongles and audio equipment, but having a f*ckton of options cand be scary, so if there is any better option (with mic input) I would like to know

I found out Qudelix 5K has more features and since I can use Dolby Atmos on it, is so good that it is so small and for wireless gaming (on aptx adaptive) is really good since I can choose aggressive latency even on LDAC.

Taquito96Did you ever find out if it uses the PC38X’s mic or the integrated mic for mic input?

I don't think an amp makes much of a difference for pc38x. I was running it with my fulla, and now my wife is running it directly on her pc (high end), I couldn't tell any much difference (if any) at all. It sounds great just running off the integrated sound card on pc

If you are using a desktop system the qudelix and schiit fulla are good options. You should see if the shiite fulla can take the audio and mic input. If it can take an optical audio input that would be great but then it might not receive mic input. I have owned a pair of Astro’s before and I know the transceiver could take an optical audio input and then receive mic input on a different channel. They sounded excellent as well. I haven’t used the Shiit Fulla but if it could act the same way than that would be a great setup. I might consider keeping one for myself as a collection. I do own a Qudelix and sound wise it is sonically good (at 24-bit/96khz the sound quality doesn’t get much better than this with bluetooth over L-DAC. The sound quality and fidelity are basically the same, usb-dac or bluetooth, if not a slight edge to wired). Imaging, soundstaging, instrument separation, detail, it’s all there. It’s a pretty darn good receiver. (The ES9128p chip is a similar brand found in some of Fiio’s music players although Fiio’s sampling rates are higher 32-bit/384khz). The qudelix does have a built in mic to take whatever headset you plug in and make it compatible with calls so it might not work with the PC-38X’s mic. Also, beware of getting the qudelix for the bluetooth abilities (it sounds great but there will always be a delay. If you are using this to watch movies, videos, or for gaming, I would recommend a wired option). If you use it as a usb-dac there won’t be a delay and it will use pass through power instead of the battery. This means you can still use it as a tiny and powerful dac but also take on the go whenever you feel like. You could also try the ddHiFi TC35B. It’s a little metal usb-c adapter that uses an ALC5686 chip (32-bit/384khz). It also takes in-line controls for mic inputs. Some people on drop do say that it stops working after sometime or it cuts out so I am not too sure about the quality but I have been wanting to try it out myself. They made a new aluminum that might be better. The older one was made out of titanium and heavy which might have been causing the issues. The TC35i is a lightning version but the lightning port is software limited to 24-bit/48khz unless you are using Apple music or playing directly from a flac file.

ClidoI did end up getting qudelix 5k just for the fuckton of features, if I were to choose a cheap dongle I could do the meizu but aptx adaptive is truly something on latency. I wanted to be the fiio btr5 but there is not official support for mic inline in usb dac mode and thx onyx is just to expensive to justify.

Lowra1nwAlso the Apple dongle is actually really good for being like $3, don't let price play with your head on quality.
