This actually is not a bad deal, it is Awesome. Based off 3D Nand (Tlc stack)https://www.adata.com/en/feature/463 with portability, shock resistance, water Resistance IP68 certified and military-spec MIL-STD-810G 516.6 drop/shock resistance.Dust Resistance
*Yes I changed words from 'Proof' to 'Resistance' since I believe the term 'Proof' is only good in scientific, conversational or legal circles not for technology, heck even Bullet'Proof' is not normally called that now and is switched to 'Resistant'
=> I could see this as being a pretty nice Steam Drive. I'm already using a older Kingston 120Gb ssdnow 300V via Sata to typeC usb connector, so far on that older tech setup I have been able to play everything I have wanted without issues for at least a year now, and I'm far more likely to cause failure on a smaller drive uninstalling\reinstalling over and over than *
upgrading to this 1TB and installing my library once. I am most likely going to grab the 1TB version of this Sd700x since it also has D-Ram and SLC Cache. Normally trying to get anything with "tough" specs you pay for that terminology, so buying 1TB ultra light portable tough usbC drive - for $150 bucks is pretty awesome.
Even the smaller 256GB and 512Gb drives available here for same toughness, are still great deals.
=> In my opinion Best SSD deal I have seen on Massdrop - I plan on using this and adding to my comment with a review of how it does when I get it and may post this on other review sites too.
Just received unit :) Note it is not USB C- but instead comes with a high quality thick 12" long cable. Type SuperSpeed+ MicroB USB3.1 cable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Connector_USB_3_IMGP6033_wp.jpg (Superspeed+ is USB 3.1 Version :) This is fine as it is slightly more difficult for cable to randomly unplug from unit. 953GB of 1Tb drive is shown as available Capacity (normal for storage drives available formats to be under size of advertised drive size, due to formatting, and on ssd drives some of the drive is used to keep wear leveling even to extend life of the drive. Unit comes in a very nice box I will add photos shortly.
The instruction sheet says there is free software to download, but the link doesn't work. On their site you have to register the product to access any downloads, but even then no key. I had to call Massdrop to get the secret Adata phone number (Don't you hate that?) and then they told me the free software only applies to internal drives.
