While it may look like something out of a 1950s office, the Azio MK-Retro Keyboard is anything but stuck in the past. Outfitted with handcrafted keycaps with chrome trim, this retro-style keyboard looks as good in the office as it does in the game room Read More
This is such a shame MD to still deliver product descriptions like this after all this time and it's fishy.
You don't mention on purpose for me the brand of those switches, if it would be cherry you would state that i bet.
A lot of times i'm proud to be a member here, but some times over and over again i'm embarrassed.
There has to be a certain standard established of product descriptions, aiming at people at the mk community here.
You're doing more harm to yourself than you may think, we're not to stupid to recognize.
Oetemu are rare but because they are dirt cheap here comes the rub, you get what you paid for so don't even compare these switches to any version of CherryMX ones.
Have Kailhs which aren't necessarily bad BUT I still prefer the original Cherry's or even Gaterons.
Azio also use their very own versions of stabilizers so be careful when buying this because it won't accept any other standard CherryMX key-set, besides the ones that are sitting on it now.
Found Azio particularly unhelpful in showing their actual stabilizers in photos. Maybe because they decided to keep it quiet so future customers won't know till they fork out their hard earned cash ; )
I see what you mean but, like BlueCrowned said, they could have made it a bit more compatible with other caps. Some people like the chassis more than the caps.
The key-caps is the main gimmick of this board, and getting a full board solely for its keycaps probably isn't a very smart move considering that you might hate them.
Usually caps are the most customizable aspect of mech boards, but with this board you would be stuck with the same old ones no matter what. It's just not a very nice design in general.
Well massdrop is best for the US not for any other country as it is more expensive for massdrop to ship 1 item to 1 address in UK for example but when a PC part seller from the UK orders direct from China let's say it is a lot cheaper for them as they bought hundreds of the same product not 1 or 2 so massdrop need a UK and a Canadian version of their site for non americans
HabaneroCould you guys ship to the border? That's what i usually do, just a 45 minute drive for me, at 5am to a border store parcel service. I order a few things a month often however, and just pick them up in a grand sweep. I think i have most parts for a computer, or two there right now, sitting in some back storage room. Also, i purchase from ebay, and i will often get items free shipping to my door from china.
Very unhappy with this purchase. I though it was the one with backlit keys. Somewhere in the description it should have mentioned that this was not the LED backlit one. I thought Azio only had one retro model.
Hello Geckt
Currently you are able to use standard MX caps on the Kailh switches. However for this design you may need longer stem key caps. The keys are slightly raised to help with the dust and liquid resistance.
AzioCorpOk, so where can I get keycaps with longer stems?
I'm sorry, if by saying that I sounded sarcastic but there's really no such thing. Keycaps with longer stems and that is NOT STANDARD when it ISN'T a widely used method.
The sight of these caps worn out aren't a pretty sight. Otherwise, the keyboard really looks pretty nice.
I am glad to hear they are working well for you! I work as a Software Engineer as well actually! My coworker and I both actually joined that drop and he had less of an issue than I did as well, but he still opted for another set of key caps he had lying around. I think my main issues come from the way I type being a bit less than standard and I tend to pull and push more when transitioning between keys that that is the main problem.
Would you say you prefer them over regular keys, or is it pretty even and you enjoy the aesthetics?
Atom68Honestly I enjoy both styles but I would prefer regular keys for personal use. I just bought that keyboard for fun and it's a step up from the keyboard I was given at work.
