Product Description
The Bestech Warwolf features an ergonomically crafted handle made from textured G-10 and a hefty spear-point blade. The overall package is heavy enough that you’ll notice it in the hand, but not so heavy it’s a burden Read More
Agree on price. The thing with tool steels and knives, though, isn’t so much the source or variation of the particular steel (although that does matter, e.g., ESR D2) as it is the heat treatment, which is absolutely critical. As a mass production knife from China, who knows? It’s attractive, though, and I like D2, and I like G10.
billcI'm no metallurgist, but i've put a couple bestech Knives through their paces on various woods and cardboard duty. Haven't had any complaints yet on their ability to hold an edge.
And the build quality is leaps and bounds ahead of anything else I've ever owned anywhere near this price (better than a few I've owned at twice this price even)
At this price point I'd recommend giving them a try, it's well worth the risk to judge in person
This one has thicker G10 handle scales that are sculpted and make for a very ergonomic grip. As usual the steel liners have been skeletonized to reduce the weight and the action is ultra smooth on ceramic bearings. I only wish it had a deep carry clip like the Scimitar but that's not a dealbreaker by far. You know a knife is good when you already have one but are tempted to get another on sale. By the way the beige is more like a light olive green...very nice.
JKreeseYou're right. A deep pocket clip would make this better. I bought the BG-03 (Swordfish) and it has the same clip. I would say it is comparable to my Benchmade McHenry Williams. It has a different locking mechanism, and price, but, they're very similar.
Bestech and Massdrop need to stop. I can’t keep buying OD Green knives, but I also can’t stop buying OD Green knives! Every Bestech knife I have gotten through Massdrop has been top notch.
Bestech BG01 Lion was $36.99
Bestech BG03 Swordfish was $39.99
Now Bestech BG04 is $44.99.....
Considering that Bestech G10 models are priced the same by online retailers, it looks like Massdrop deals with Bestech are getting worst
zvnmYeah, not surprised lol they're usually right around $52 for most g10 bestechs on Amazon. But you most likely just saved 2 other MD users a few bucks haha
Zippered pouch still listed in the description....if it doesn't come with, be sure to bring it up with support when it arrives until they update it. They've been told and have had to issue partial refunds months ago, you'd think they would've made the update as soon as they lost $15 on a $40 sale the first time 🙄
(sorry MD, but i tried multiple times to tell you about this issue before)
Also, a reminder to the new buyers, check my review regarding a safety concern with the heel of the blade when closed. I love the knife, and still recommend it, but that issue needs to be addressed if yours is the same
A very nice flipper for the money. I'm not generally big on liner locks, but I like almost everything else about it. It arrived sharp, but I was able to make a noticeable improvement with a couple minutes on a worksharp. That said, the knife is now as keen as I could ever want.
I really like the shape. It's a lot sleeker than the Lion and the blade looks longer as a result.
It feels pretty stiff to open, but I think that it will loosen a bit with time. For now a little bit of lubricant should get the job done.
bookworm13Not exactly. The action is smooth once it starts to open, but getting it to open with the flipper takes an uncomfortable amount of force, for me at least. Maybe to make sure it doesn't open in your pocket, but I like the lower stiffness of the lion and scimitar more.
If it is a safety feature, as I believe, I can understand it. But I wish it was just a little bit easier. It kinda starts to hurt my index finger after a while.
I received this knife today. I have to say that it is a really nice knife. The detent is spot on, that is, not too loose and not too ‘strong’, allowing the blade with just the right amount of effort to properly deploy. The liner locks with about 50% of its surface as it engages with the tang, and disengages properly. Once disengaged, the blade ’practically falls’ back into the handle..., nice. The G-10 scales on my knife are ‘beige’, are contoured and comfortable for my largish hand (always XL gloves). The blade came perfectly centered, and it is really sharp. I used a leather strop to ’touch’ it up, and now it is REALLY sharp. I’m finally gaining some trust with Bestech, and this is a great example of a well made knife :) I like this knife, and I’m looking forward to EDC’ing it. I will update my notes here as I use the knife.
bookworm13I have not used this knife extensively. However, I have the ‘Lion’, and it has been in my EDC rotation. It has held up very well. The D2 steel is not on any other knife in my collection other than my other Bestech’s, so I have been using the Lion quite a bit, including box opening, box making using card board (been doing a lot of packing lately), and just hanging around whittling on a miscellaneous wood sticks. With just an occasional strop, I find great edge retention. I will look forward to sharpening it on my TechPro when the time comes. So, I anticipate the Warwolf will likely hold up well also.
