I agree, but with drop’s skyline and family oriented thinking, you’re gonna see a lot of stuff optimized for led + transparent lettering rather than hobby grade pcbs.
it’s a shame, since otherwise this ticks pretty much all of my boxes.
HypeZer0@Duey@Zoolander157 Hey, apologies but thanks for the catch .. page has been updated to north-facing. Also we don't make these PCBs as they are from a vendor!
No tsangan layout option and all options available have north-facing switches.
But hey, let's add an encoder option for those enthusiasts lol
"Start things off right" is not exactly the right term. New hobbyists will be starting off wrong if they want to use GMK or any cherry profile keycaps, which Drop sells often. "South-facing sockets" is just misleading those wanting south-facing switches/LEDs.
remdellDrop also sells a ton of shine through oem keycaps (north preferred) and mt3 (orientation agnostic). It's ok to offer north facing on some pcbs.
jpham0xLike @jpham0x said, the rotary knob is next to the backspace key. What may not be immediately obvious is that this means you end up with a 1U backspace (half the usual width), which may or may not work for you.
jpham0xThere's also some sort of VIA compatibility where you can flash the backspace to the R2, which seems weird, but it's closer and now I prefer. Instead of that big ass PIPE key.
To use this well, would it be good to have a grid plate on top, to lock the switches in place? If so, do any of you know good sources of such grid plates? Maybe there has been drops for those before/again?
Yep, that looks exactly right / at least one proper option! I assume most people needing this PCB, also (should) need either that or already must have something similar. Thank you!
