Product Description
Just released this spring, the Android 4.4-based Cayin i5 stands out for its user-friendly touch screen and wireless connectivity with support for streaming services like Tidal and Spotify. It supports high-resolution formats up to 32 bit/384 kHz and DSD 64/128, and for those with an extensive music library, offers 200 gigs of external memory on top of the 32 gigs built in. You’ll get 11 hours of offline playback (or 10 hours online) via the 4800 mAh battery, and the all-in-one Type C port allows for fast charging, data transfer, and connecting to a DAC Read More
anyone tested this compared to pioneer xdp 300r? which do yo prefer between the two in terms of user interface, responsiveness and ease of use. Advantages and disadvantages between both. haven’t tested both, and torn between these DAP, hence i need user feedbacks. thanks in advance… 👍👍👍
Please educate me... why would one want an audio player of this type and cost vs the (likely) high end phone you carry on your person every day? I loved my Sansa e280 mp3 player in 2007, just not sure if a standalone music player (esp at this price point) is relevant in 2018?
There are more and more sites doing FLAC and Hi-Res. However like the early days in any format they are a lot more expenses than MP3s here's a list of some of the top Hi-Res https://www.sony.com/electronics/best-music-download-sites-hi-res-audios .There are more sites than this of course and if you are more adventuresome there are “free” sites out there that do Hi-Res and FLAC as well.

ScottDYou CAN hear the difference with a decent player and good headphones and earphones, even with MP3. I think you need very good ($$$) electronics to hear much difference between FLAC/Apple lossless and higher-res formats. But you can hear the difference between an iPhone and say a Fiio X3 ($189) and $50-100 earphones, which are giving you a cleaner louder signal and better reproduction than stock earphones on a phone.
I'm not sure if a $100 Fiio player does do better, but I would like a Cayin i5 or N5ii.
It would be great if massdrop dropped the N5ii instead of the i5.
The N5ii is only $369 at msrp yet sounds better than the i5. It may be only 280 after a drop. Now THAT would be a no brainer.
Seriously, the only reason I can see why anyone would get the i5 is just for a bigger screen
Can someone tell me about USB Out feature (I think the feature came to device with 2.2 firmware?) Is it stable? Is there any annoying thing while using with an external DAC? I have Meridian Explorer 2 and works perfect through Cayin N3's USB out but I can not use Tidal with Cayin N3 so considering to get a DAP with Tidal offline and a stable USB out feature.
And by the way how is Tidal usage? Is it stable (especially Tidal Offline)
Thanks.
Addition: I tried USB out of N5ii with Meridian Explorer 2 and it did not work well. N5ii having problems with USB out and it seems the updates could not solve it yet.
