For comparison, the thumb clusters with row 1 on the top keys, row 2 on the other 1x keys, and row 2 vertical (numpad +) for the 2x keys.

shanemaddenThat's really the way it should be. There's no reason to put any R4 on the thumb clusters. Or on anything other than the bottom row of alphas IMO.
