Overall impression? A great piece of EDC kit to abuse...
Already having owned the smaller version of this knife, I purchased this large version of the CRKT Pilar with the hope of greater functionality and ease of use in hand. Indeed, the large version has not disappointed. While the smaller version I had previously purchased is an unnecessary upgrade for opening mail and packages, this version is actually usable in a variety of settings. When compared to most of my other EDC knives, it seems that CRKT has a bit of a humorous take on what defines a “large” pocket knife as this Pilar, with a blade length of ~2.7” remains on the small end of usable. That shared, I keep this tucked in a Molle visor in the truck and call on it for use confidently and regularly. I would recommend this product.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!
This is now my EDC knife! It is ALWAYS on my person along with the Olight S1RBatonII Big enough for every day use and doesn't quite freak people out when I pull it out... well, most of the time anyway like some of my other knives would!

I decided to purchase this slightly larger version with flipper and G-10 scales over the original. Blade lockup is about 60%. The detente is a little stuff and I can't open it with the flipper tab without some wrist action. The price was reasonable and what prompted me to order it rather than wait. It's rugged design and build should make it a great EDC. I would like to see stand offs rather than a back spacer, Al slimmer blade and handle and some G-10 color options in the future. Update I am liking this chunky and stout little knife more and more every day. I like that it can be opened with the flipper or the thumb hole. The flipper has loosened a bit so far but still won't open up 100 percent of the time.

I like the design and ergonomics of this knife and I am pretty impressed with the D2 blade. I really wanted to like this. The Bad: quality is subpar even for the price. Came to me with the blade off centered, gritty action, and too stiff of a detent. Tried to disassemble the knife and the screws are loctite as hell. Managed to strip one screw and just tried to lube and remove the blade. Despite that the action only improved marginally and I had to loosen the pivot a bit so that I could get the knife to open using the flipper. Now it has vertical and horizontal blade play due to the fact that the pivot is not fully tightened. And the blade is still not fully centered.

I think this was a case where I let public opinion coax me into a purchase. So many apparent "knife guys" liked this knife, & raved about the action, & ergo's of this knife. I just don't care for super small working knives, but when they supersized it, I jumped. Oh well, it's only a few bucks but still, that same $35 would've bought a Ruike 801 and had change left........ So, complaints. Okay I can only address the knife I got, & I've not been able to center the blade without over tightening the pivot. Teflon washers? Come on, man. Also given the weak detent I don't know that bronze washers would've been enough to game the knife's action into much more than okay. Finally, I guess if you've built a knife that's almost guaranteed to require frequent disassembly then how much an upgrade in the quality of your screws add to your final cost? The same could be said for phosphor bronze washers. Okay, that pretty well sums it up for me, hope everyone else had better luck.

Good solid knife
Received mine with two different scales on it. Other than that it works, feels good in the hand.

Great knife. Need bronze washers ( vrs nylon), to get a 5 star rating out of me. Bronze washers would turn this into an excellent buy.
