Stunning case
Managed to grab this when it came up for sale again after checking every day (just in case!), delivery was reasonably quick to the UK after having paid the usual import charges. The quality of the case is fantastic, no imperfections, quite heavy and solid and I love the off white colour. I used my old Massdrop Alt PCB from the low profile version to this one with no issues, bought some Gateron Yellows, Gateron Stabilizers, Stupidfish foam, KBDFans Stab foam and the MT3 Susuwatari key caps to go along with it, no issues at all with fitting anything in, it is a bit of a tight fit with the foam but it does manage to squeeze in and it is worth it as there's no pinging at all. All switches and stabs went in without issue and the fit is "just right", lubed the Gateron Yellows with Krytox 205G0 and the stabs with 205G0 on the stem and Permatex 22058 on the wire and they sound and feel incredible, couldn't be happier with them, never thought the Drop Alt would be my end game but I don't see a reason to change from this, for the time being at least. I did have one little issue with the magnets on the back, when fully screwed in one was rattling but I just took them all out and put some little pieces of foam in their place.

Here is the case with a set of Olivia Darks. I guess I lucked out and did not have any fitment or tolerance issues. So far the switches I have tried without issues have been some Cherry MX clears and browns, drop holy pandas, and GMMK Glorious Pandas. So far all have clicked in and out without a problem. The Glorious Pandas were a little tight but have been tough to push in a few other boards I have tested on. I love the color of this case. Pictures are hard to show off the old retro IBMish grey, green color this case is. This is a keeper for sure. I hope DROP does more cases similar to this vs the lilac and other tones they have been releasing.

Lovely color, weight, and no tolerance issues
This thing is sweet. The case looks lovely and has a great heft to it. I didn't experience any tolerance issues. I used this as an opportunity to add Holy Pandas and genuine cherry stabs to the ALT and am just blown away at how fantastic this keyboard looks and feels.

Beautiful color, issues with tolerance.
These star ratings are misleading because it lacks so much context but here goes...The case is as expected, very much the product they advertised; a very cool, retro off-white colored High Profile ALT case. The powder coating is very clean and well worth the asking price, but as the first reviewer has stated, because of the added thickness from the extra coating (which the original plate clearly wasn't designed for), the plate mount tolerances for the switches widely vary from being snug to worryingly tight. The stabs needed some serious manhandling because they just refused to mount if you have the PCB installed. Mine wasn't bad enough that it's unusable but if I ever have to tinker with any of the stabs in the future, I would have to disassemble the whole board because it's pretty much jammed in there with brute force and there is no way to take it off the usual way by just pressing the clips in at the top. So, what good is a review for a limited run item going to do, you might ask? I just hope this can reiterate a point to the community; I've purchased over $1300 worth of stuff of Drop in the last couple of months and it's painfully obvious that they need to pour more energy into QA. They may have been around for 8 or so years but their manufacturing level reminds me of a ragtag startup that's just started experimenting with mass production; a level or two above an enthusiast making shit in this garage. Just temper your expectations. Their website makes it look like a luxury brand but don't go into buying stuff from DROP expecting perfectly crafted tools on par with something like Snap-on or Makita, Zwilling J.A. Henckels or Wusthof, Apple or Samsung because even if they give off that appearance, they just aren't on that level, at least not yet.

Terrible quality control
This board will not fit my switches due to the plate being too tight. I have tried over 5 different switches from gateron, cherry, and kaihl. Extremely disappointed because this case is gorgeous. Edit: After taking a dremel to the board I was able to open the plate enough to fit my switches in. Looks really good but still leaving 1 star because I had to take a dremel to it in the first place

Ah! Well, guess I'll avoid buying it if it ever comes back into stock unless they fixed that issue. Tempted to get a normal high profile and paint it and just not paint the plate which is probably what they should've done.

landovasI had no problems getting the switches in other than the right enter key stabs sticking a bit, which was resolved after removing and inserting it again

Would have been perfect, if not for poor QC.
Putting it together was simple, everything fit as it should; except for stabs. The stabilizer switch slots look visibly narrow than the others. The enter key area especially is so tight that stabilizers can't even move. I pulled stabs from another keyboard to check and they fit worse. Thankfully the space key area is better than the others, and after filing down the back and front housing of a pair, they worked well enough to not restrict the movement of the key. I just gave up on the other three; it doesn't hurt their functionality. Surprisingly no real issues inserting switches, firm fit but not too tight to break or remove them.

Looks amazing put together and is functional, but the issues really killed my enthusiasm.

No Tolerance Issues, Great Color
Maybe I just got lucky, but I don't have any tolerance issues at all (tried multiple switches to be sure). I LOVE the color. I had a low-profile ALT that was sitting on my shelf since other customs have been nicer and I hated the low profile (it was my first mech keeb). This case has brought it new life. Currently using the Everglide Violets (had to clip the PCB mounts for the ALT pcb) and loving this thing now. The ALT has returned to my weekly lineup.

Blessing & Curse
First off, I was not sent my diffuser when I ordered this case, I am still in the process of getting this cleared up, but as of now I have just requested QA send me one (I hope I get mine) I have not previously owned a Drop ALT (I intend on getting the PCB singularly once it becomes available for purchase). The case I got was quite well made, very pretty, well worth the price, but there is an issue of note. The powder coating makes the tolerances a little tighter around the switches and stabilizers. Although I don't own an ALT after seeing the other reviews talk about tolerances, I can confirm this is present. In my case it doesn't really prevent anything from fitting, but it does require a bit more force. As someone who has built customs before this is not something new to me (although I am unsure how it will effect the hot swappiness of these boards). To remedy the tolerance issue try the following: Buy a file and file down the little nubs on the sides of your switches, don't file them down too much but just a little bit should allow them to fit without any hastle. Those little plastic clips are how the keys secure themselves to the plate via pressure, so filing them down makes an easy fit, if you are hot swapping all the time then I recommend doing this in-general, but that's just me. As for stabs, there is a little nub at the south face when inserting into the case, you can file that down a bit as well and it should fix that (Although I would recommend muscling it in there, pressing down on it from the back should help pop it out of you should need to. I've never had to change stabs in a hotswap after a bit of lubing so I wouldn't worry too much long term). Here is a picture for reference (and the case too because it's so pretty)

Overall as expected
Overall happy with the quality of the case. Love the off-white retro style and the finish has a softer touch comparing to other alu cases. The shipping date mass up was frustrating.
