Product Description
Inside every CTRL keyboard is a high-performance PCBA—an assembled printed circuit board—that brings it to life. For the first time ever, we’re bringing that same PCBA to our community members as a standalone component Read More

Hi everyone, Thanks for reaching out and voicing your concerns about the pricing of the PCBs. The original intent was to make these available at a lower price but upon importing them we learned that PCBs (considered components) have a 25% import tariff on them (that finished goods are not subject to). Bottom line, it's far more expensive for us to produce and import a PCB, Aluminum Case and Stabs separately, than it is for us to import a barebones assembled keyboard (even though they're effectively the same thing). At the end of the day, that isn't your problem, it's ours. We've repriced the PCB to be more in-line with market values and now if you buy a PCB, Case and Stabs the pricing is similar to our barebones offering (slightly higher given the stabs are different and the case colors are customizable and made in much smaller batches). Thanks for your feedback! (For those who placed an order at the original, higher price, a customer service rep will reach out and provide a refund of the price difference.)

Hi Kevin, For first build, different colour option instead of space grey or black, we shall need to buy all individual item separately as in Case = 95 Diffuser = 10 Pcba = 60 stablizer = 18 Total = 183 For barebone, it is 150, In the future will there be more colour option on barebone units?

@JaleesaG or @Elbert maybe you can answer a question I have about the packaging. Is the black foam inside the box anti-static foam or just regular packing foam?

I believe it's just foam and is not anti-static.

From what I can see, there needs to be a Drop Ctrl/Alt PCB that supports 5 pin switches so we don’t ruin our switches by clipping off the legs and it needs to be south facing so GMK keycap sets are actually viable. Without south facing most switches will experience squeaky sounds with their GMK keycaps and this is because of switch interference. South facing does not actually hit the gamers that hard because many switches have translucent polycarbonate top housings allowing for light to flow to the double shot OEM keycaps anyways. This change needs to be implemented not just as a new PCB option for higher prices to make more money off us but it should be a necessity to all the future Drop Ctrl and Alt because without this, Drop’s Alt and Ctrl will fall out of favour as contenders like Ducky and Glorious are actually listening to their fans and properly improving their boards.

Whadya mean? They lowered the price though! rofl. I'm telling you, these (boards) are ONLY purchased by newcomers. For $200-ish for a complete board, they appear to be a great deal. Until you spend a little while in this glorious hobby of ours and realize these boards are literal garbage. The absolute cheapest parts and every shortcut they could find has been used, north facing LEDs,....I don't need to go on, we all know what's what. My only hope is an R2 that fixes the problems. I have an non-working CTRL that I purchased when Drop was fairly new without even bothering to look at its details. The non-working part is the PCB. I will not purchase this option. I'd rather have a non-working CTRL than one that works with this PCB. Drop? Are you listening? Be a better company and make a "decent", not perfect, but a decent PCB and sell it for $35. Give it free to current owners of any ALT or CTRL since it should've been a better PCB to begin with. I can tell you sincerely, you'll win many more customers by doing this than the number you'll lose by continuing selling the current PCB. Humanity....all the cool kids are doing it.

Hi everyone, Quick update on shipping-- All units have arrived at our warehouse and shipping is beginning. It may take a few days for everyone to receive tracking, so if you don't today, don't worry. Everything will go out in the next few days.

Suggestion for a future PCB product; a "pro" version of the CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT PCB's - that is, with support for 5-pins and south-facing orientation. I'd be a *lot* more interested in a high-pro ALT if I didn't have to maul premium switches to mount them - and I wouldn't mind being able to mount premium Cherry profile keysets without having two of the rows strike awkwardly against the switches, either. This could be an up-sell option for new keyboards, but it could also be a way to re-vitalize the otherwise very nice 1st gen CTRL collecting dust in my closet.

it's amazing how drop thinks they can sell a mess like this for even $40, let alone double that. this has to be one of the worst looking PCBs I've ever seen, it's like they made the traces look bad intentionally

Of course this option comes out just after I give in and buy a Ctrl keyboard and a purple case.
Are these CTRL PCBs compatible with the K-type case? My K-type bit the dust a while ago, and it isn't possible to flash it (the LEDs quickly blink once when USB is connected, but I can't get it to go into dfu mode), so I would be interested if this board has the same mount points.

Mounting points are different, so won't be compatible with the K-Type case.
