With this strange shipping method they are using you get no confirmation on the delivery of your order, and therefore are not allowed to review a product you don't own yet, at least according to their records.
Just some observations.
I got mine today and I am not allowed to review them yet. I never even got a shipping update after the initial "your product is on the way." I'm a newbie and even I can tell the consistency of the lube is all over the place. I don't have the proper equipment to help clean it off. This Is going to be a huge waste of time and money on my end. Well played drop...well played.
Sam_PippinProper equipment, are you talking about a specialty tool to help open switches quickly so that the lube can be whipped off?

There are even milled aluminum ones from various vendors, and there are .stl files on Thingiverse so that you can 3D print your own
erickongThank you for your suggestion. I actually own a switch opener and have lubed my own switches before. But I haven’t cleaned them before and I don’t have a better way than just water and a cloth of some kind to clean the lube off. That seems like it will be very ineffective and time consuming. I could have bought any other switch and not had this problem. It’s crazy that some of the most expensive switches on the market come broken.
Sam_PippinI don't think broken is the correct word here. Just executed poorly on our part.
Btw, water is not a good cleaner for oils, grease, and lubricants. This is because of the nonpolar and polar reaction. You'll need to add soap if you want a deep clean.
If you want to continue cleaning off the lube. Try cracking open all the switches, then putting the stems in soapy water, then cleaning with a toothbrush. Make sure you allow them to dry properly before reassembling the switch.
erickongI appreciate your help. This is obviously something I was not expecting to have to deal with. I really think drop should stop selling these in the state they are. They may not be physically broken, but they are not a stock switch which is what I and I’m sure most people thought they ordered. Even now it says that they are lubed but there is no mention of the inconsistency. That’s severely misleading.
- Halo Switches Dry Up
- No response for days about the lube issue
