I had been defending Massdrop until I saw my /dev/tty/ set myself. I finally received my set today, and unfortunately I have to report that there are a TON of alignment issues. I counted a total of 33 keycaps with issues. Many are minor that you wouldn't notice unless carefully inspecting, but there are several that are noticable off-center, and a couple that have crooked legends (1° - 2° off). I also have many keycaps with large scratches and significant scuff marks. I have to say that with the price of this set, I am pretty disappointed by the lack of quality control. I posted an Imgur album with some of my defects here if anyone is curious: https://imgur.com/a/JTsQf
I'm asking Massdrop for replacements on all defective keycaps I have - I'm curious to see if they actually take care of all the issues. Overall, the set looks good... but there is definitely room for improvement.
CarmenOhioThe worst for me are your tilted alphas - those would probably annoy me - plus perhaps a few of the centerings. Mine have just cleared customs so I am expecting them Tuesday. The tension is building.
Idef1xYeah most of the centering issues don’t bother me as much because they are minor. The tilted F1, Z, and M are so awful though that it makes it look like a cheap set.
If the replacement keycaps fix these issues, i’m still happy with the set. It looks great aside from the inconsistent dye sub job and not everyone will have the issues I did.
OldCatI wasn't a fan of the profile at first either. The surface area of the keycap is smaller than SA, DSA, and obviously way smaller than any cylindrical profiles. You can feel the top and bottom edges with each press if you have larger fingers. It's growing on me, but it's definitely not the most comfortable profile (for me at least).
