Hey Everyone,
As of Monday Feb 24th, the contract manufacturer that is making the Drop SHIFT Mechanical Keyboard has restarted its operations. Their initial estimate for the Drop SHIFT production completion is May 31st, and we are negotiating ways we can be moved up on the timeline (each client is essentially out-bidding each other to get a higher priority in the production queue). Since operations have just restarted, this is a very preliminary estimate but it's the best we can work with for now (staffing levels today were apparently 20% of full capacity). We will provide another update at the end of this week or early next week- when there should be a little more clarity on the situation.

KevinI'm gonna be honest I was expecting worse at this point in time, but I guess I'll just hope the situation doesn't get worse for the time being. Out is curiosity what's the timeline from when they finish production? How long does it usually take to reach Drop before y'all can ship individual orders?

J3ff1n4t0rWe used to do ocean shipping, which would take 4-6 weeks to get from China to New Jersey. Nowadays, we do air-cargo for basically everything, so it's about 7 business days (assuming no delays with clearing customs). The cargo situation is very complicated right now, on one hand we're hearing of too much capacity (not enough production to fill the planes), and on the other side we are hearing of massive cuts to cargo infrastructure (far fewer planes flying back and forth). The situation in China is extremely volatile so to be honest, I don't really trust much of the information that we're getting. But, I understand people want updates- so the best we can do is pass on the questionable info. To be clear, I don't think the information is intentionally questionable, it's just that everything happening there is up in the air right now- for very good reasons.

KevinAha, here's the update I'm surprised I didn't see at the top. Don't forget to swap this with the older sticky. I've been getting the emails, so I actually dropped by here to say thank you for keeping the updates timely. This is exactly what I—and I suspect a lot of other Massdrop customers—have wanted all along, even when the news is "We're still not sure how this will affect our timeline."
