The year 2077 may hold a utopia or dystopia, but one thing is for sure: the keyboards will be incredible. In our latest Signature Series release, the Cyber Surge Keyboard, we decided to hit fast-forward and bring cutting-edge cyberpunk typing to the present Read More
I bought this because my Corsair K70 finally had some switches fatigue over the 10+ years I have owned it (loking at you, "D"). I have been a long-time member, since the days of Massdrop and I wanted to buy something that was a pre-built solution. I shopped around a little bit and I knew I wanted tactile and TKL at least, since this would be my first non 100% keyboard.
The MT3 Profile took some getting used to after coming from cherry caps on browns with worn out springs. I definitely like the new feel, but my typing is still much faster on a cherry profile for now. Maybe this will change with time, but I am still enjoying the new board quite a bit. The high profile is like playing with a typewriter from a thrift store... only the thrift store opened in the year 2075.
One minor nit-pick I would have is that the PCB is a 3-pin design and a lot of switches are 5 pin, even the ones sold through Drop. now this can be fixed with a pair of wire cutters, but I would hate to mutilate a bunch of freshly bought switches just to try them on this board.
I already have my next two keyboards lined up because after buying this, I realized just how deep the rabbit hole goes. and for that reason, I cannot reccommend this to anyone who is shopping for their first mechanical keyboard. Buy a "Gamer Keyboard" and don't look into the rabbit hole.
Love the keyboard; hefty, really good build quality. I feel like it'll last forever.
The HolyPanda switches are quite nice too, reminds me a better Cherry MX Brown
I wanted to build my own custom keyboard but getting all the parts separately and assembling somehow was more expensive than just getting the pre-built keyboard. Also, ended up getting a nice deal with $50 off. This is my first custom keyboard so I'm blown away by the smooth clicks of these Holy Panda switches. These have a lot more key travel than the regular keyboards I'm used to. Will take some time getting used to the deep keys.
-1 star because the packaging was decent. I also expected a better USB cable. The included USB cable is USB-A (PC) to USB-C (Keyboard) which works for my PC but doesn't work from my Mac. Hope they had included a USB-C to USB-C cable. The cable itself is also very generic. I expected the cooler coil cable they are showing in the photos.
Quality is very good and the color of the body and cap also good enough. Everyone should have one of this keyboard for their PC, can feel happy when you use it.
i know trend of keyboard is gasket,5pin,south facing socket. but CTRL high profile is still worth it who want solid structure keyboard like me. i like gasket keyboard too. they are soft and low noise but i like stiff feeling of typing too. i think this is just taste difference. CTRL have simple structure and doesn't need care about of foam elements lifespan. and have nice LED lighting because of CTRL have north facing switch socket. i don't like south facing switch socket with LED.south facing socket's led make bad lighting between gap of keycap. 5pins are bad i agree.
CTRL barebone's worst thing is stab. i think drop's biggest mistake of CTRL and ALT is stab. they are too bad. make so many noise. and make people thinks case is also bad. but i think ctrl and alt case is nice solid heavy aluminium case both of low profile and high profile. signature series have its own stab. they looks like panda stab.white stem and black case and gold plated wire and. this is really good. i surprised they are so soft and no rattle sound. i recommend this keyboard if you don't want mod and want stiff keyboard(IMO stiff keyboard make best tactile switch sound)
Absolutely love the Holy Pandas, the Keycaps, and how hefty the build feels overall (which justifies the price tag imo). Definitely love the travel of the keys and the RGB lighting is a nice touch. Factor in the case to slide your precious keyboard in and this is a no brainer to recommend.
Sounds great, feels great, looks great. Nothing more to ask for
Edit: QMK tool is producing firmware that’s causing windows to not recognize the device on startup. Will return to 5 stars when this is fixed
Edit 2: support offered a replacement keyboard, which wouldn’t fix the real problem. Drops configuration tool is producing bugged configuration binaries right now. The real QMK tool solved the issue with some tinkering. Disappointed support seemed disinterested in addressing the real issue here
GuywhoboughtthekeyboardLooking to buy this keyboard mostly for size and keycap shape and stumbled upon your comment and wanted to say that it feels kind of weird to see 3 stars for it based on support.
