It overall looks really nice and has a ton of beautiful details, still a bit expensive especially when the Eye of Sauron key has to be purchased separately
The item itself looks nice, but the lighting leaves some things to be desired. The LED underneath the switch at the top of the tower isn't particularly bright, so the effect isn't that great. The internal lighting for the tower looks good.
The worst part about this item is the fact that the light switch protrudes beyond the bottom felt ring underneath of the tower. This means the tower cannot sit flat unless you add more material to the ring, or (what I did) remove material from the physical toggle switch underneath. This isn't a difficult fix, but the issue is so obvious that I wonder why nothing was done to address it before the products were shipped.
IndoHi, thank you for the review. You likely already saw the email, but I left a comment detailing some of the improvements that we are working on and sending for these units here (fixing the switch clearance issue).
The tower itself is very detailed and looks great. The Eye of Sauron key (that is sold separately) can be pressed to light up the tower, but it gets stuck every time because the opening is too small for it.
lordloreAppreciate the feedback and review. We sent out an email detailing some improvements that are in the works, also highlighted in this comment (including a clearance fix for the sticking key).
This is the first time I've had to leave a less than stellar review for drop. Honestly, I was disappointed when I got these (I purchased both the wraith circle and the tower). I could live with low lighting, this really does not bother me, I don't need a super bright light on my desk. However, even at the sale price of $70 down from $100, these felt a bit cheap. They look great, but the feel is off.
However, the real problem is that these do not sit level. The switch to leave the unit permanently turned on sticks out further than the felt, so its left balancing on the switch.... How this made it past the production/testing team at drop/dwarf factory is beyond me. I added my own felt to make it sit level, but man, does it feel bad to pay for poor quality items.
This is the first and only time I have ever not recommended a drop item to a friend. Super disappointed. I'm leaving 2* because 1* did not feel fair (they do look cool), but as a LOTR fan, these are not must haves.
JewsusHey, thank you for the detailed review. You probably already saw the email that was sent out regarding the points you mentioned here, which is also detailed in this discussion comment (fixing the level-sitting problem). Hopefully this adequately resolves the issues for the item.
Like everyone else is saying, the tower looks great, but the lighting is terrible. They eye keycap was also designed so that no light shines through it, so even if the lighting was actually good, you still wouldn't be able to see the keycap in the dark.
