Before Major League Baseball consolidated all of the regional teams into one national organization, ball clubs popped up all over the country, each showcasing local characters and bringing pride to the populace. While most of these treasures have long been forgotten, Ebbets Field Flannels has brought some of the more colorful designs back to life in a series of throwback Ballcaps.
This drop is for the New York Black Yankees. The pictures of the Chunichi Dragons Ballcap are for reference only.
The brand began when the co-founder, Jerry Cohen, happened upon a collection of old baseball flannels, the thick uniforms first worn before polyester gained popularity. After seeing local demand for the nostalgic products, Jerry assembled a team to make vintage jerseys, jackets, and caps using original materials and manufacturing techniques. The styles quickly caught on and is collection is worn all over the world, as well as by some of MLB’s most storied stars.
Each ballcap features a horse hair buckram crown- a stiffened material that’s soft to the touch and retains its shape- with a felt emblem sewn in the center. The hat is finished off with satin taping along the brim and a cotton sweatband inside. As these are modeled after classic styles, the shape is not your ordinary New Era; the Ebbets Field Flannels Ballcaps have wider and rounder brims, less shape in the crown, and no snap back in the band. As these are fitted ballcaps, you must input your hat size at checkout.
In addition to the pictured cap, worn by the New York Black Yankees 1946, we are also offering drops for the San Francisco Seals 1949 and the Atlanta Crackers 1947 Ballcaps. Click on a picture below to go to that team’s drop.
