Well worth the discounted price! The drawers are very comfortable, wicking, & fast drying (when hand washed @ night they are dry in the morning!). Only a 4 star as it seems the quality controllers provided drop with all the boxers that had loose threads. Still worth the money; however, every fellow should be advised to look them over before putting them on to prevent a surprise strangulation.
Nicest underwear I own; very soft and comfortable, and the mateiral is very comfortable. Only issue is the price -£40 for a pair of underwear is expensive. They are fantastic in a lot of ways, but that is their limiting factor. If you have cash to splash, or really need something like this, I would highly reccomend them.
5 stars for the boxer briefs. 1 star for what I received, one of the 2 pairs were boxers. Disappointed with that. The boxer briefs are great, awesome for travel, back country backpacking, rinse in a stream and fresh as can be.
I love these things. They're comfortable, lightweight, and pack down to about nothing. The only downside is the expense. It's a real shock, coming from the world of 5-pack cotton underwear for the price of 1 ExOfficio.
I bought these over 2.5 years ago now, on Massdrop. This is a pretty delayed review. They've been with me to a dozen countries, on a thru-hike across New Zealand, a bicycle tour around Japan, etc. We're talking 2500mi+ long-distance hiking, 1500mi+ biking, plus your typical casual wear.. I can tell you they do a pretty good job in a thru-hike scenario. [Try not to] imagine months with only two pairs of underwear and a light launder once or twice a month. You get the idea.
In those 2.5 years:
- I've probably worn each pair 200-300+ times, as I travel pretty light..
- One pair was in a motorcycle accident years ago and they received some minor tears. Even with the tears, I still wear them today and the tears never grew (which surprises me).
- They started pilling almost immediately and are quite rough on my hands after rock climbing. It never got worse once it happened; I don't even remember what they were like brand new. I don't really see this as a big negative – it will happen with most synthetic or merino brands, at least with my level of wear.
- The elastic has started to go in some of the waistbands now, I will replace them soon.
- They have outlived plenty of other pairs of underwear – I've gone through other pairs of merino, cotton, other synthetics, etc. and these just check all the boxes while other pairs don't.
Only 4 stars because they're not actually my favorite ExOfficio underwear – I prefer the sports mesh version of this. These are a bit more comfortable for casual wear, but not thru-hiking / bouldering / bicycling. I'll probably purchase a few new pairs of both soon.
I have found these [boxer briefs] to be the best, most comfortable underwear I have ever tried. The waistband is wide and comfy and the legs stay in place and don't ride or bunch up. They are especially good for hot, sweaty weather because they breathe well, wick moisture away from the skin and dry quickly. These features are also particularly handy when backpacking or traveling.
Got a pair of boxers and boxer briefs. The boxers are the best hiking pjs, and the briefs are so comfortable. No chafing, perfect moisture control, keeps you cool.
