From a comfort and ergonomics point of view, do these really help? Consider the Apple keyboard shown in the description; it's barely a few inches of the table, would this pad provide a substantial improvement in ergonomics? The regular wrist pads provide considerable support when using a mechanical keyboard but I am not sure about these...what are your thoughts?

fdp05helps to me. I hate plastic/glass/metal/luminate tables. But even with wooden table my hands love when they lay on something more pleasant. 3 mm of real leather is most comfortable to me because I am still using left thumb touching for fast typing (it is a bad habit I know, but it helps me to keep my left hand always in place). With higher rests this is impossible. and by the way, considering those who still is using Apple keyboards, for them it is just the right height.
