I really want to buy one of these, but the last two times I pre-ordered, they didn't get enough orders. Any chance that you will offer it as a straight buy?
NO! I have now purchased twice. The backlighting on each has died from ESD (electrostatic discharge). Each just has a couple of stuck lights (LEDs).
Firmware and macro features work, but loss of the second unit's lighting within 72 hours of arrival was just too much.
Repair? Replacement? Who the f knows?
Anyone know any PBT backlit/doubleshot novelty keycaps for the macro keys along the leftmost column? Ideally something that (at least somewhat) matches or complements the Drop Skylight (Slate) series?
I already owned this numpad before the drop started, and I enjoy using it. The problem is that there aren't a lot of good options for fitting it with keycaps, especially once the macro keys are assigned. Most standard keycap kits seem to only come with enough keycaps to fit a standard numpad, which really limits the options for the macro keys to whatever random spare keycaps remain. Novelty kits often only come with R0 (top row) keycaps, when I really also need at least one of each of the other rows, too.
In my specific case, I'm using VIA to assign the leftmost column to F13-F17 and the topmost row to F18-23, all of which is great for AHK macros. In a perfect world, that's what their labels would be, but I know that's getting too niche. Anything generic/meaningless (or maybe even just blank) similar to the ones pictured in the product shots of this drop would be okay.
Right now, I'm using some spare Skylight (Slate) keycaps to match the ones on my CTRL.
It's a great color match, and I appreciate the consistency of the backlighting, but the legends are a hodgepodge of ↓, ↑, PgDn, PgUp, and Del from bottom to top, and the standard 1-5 number keys for the top row, just because those all happen to fit the positions/rows they're in (R0-R4).
Obviously that isn't ideal, and I just want something that won't mislead anyone who borrows my PC.
I've got one of these, really like it. It is a top mount as the plate is incorporated into the top of the case. I tape modded it and put some damping material onto the back plate and it sounds and feels great with Oil Kings and some random PBT keycaps installed. VIA programmability is good and I really needed it to program all the extra keys and enable the nav keys via layer 1 for macOS where the NumLock key doesn't work.
The LEDs are south facing except for the 2u + and Enter keys where they are west facing. That seems an odd decision but I suppose IDOBAO went with the orientation of the stabilizers. I have seen other numpads keep those LEDs south facing for consistency. Given that I don't use the RGB function, this LED orientation doesn't bother me but it might bother others. You can see this in a couple of pictures where there is no backlight on the "bottom" of the Enter key.
Congrats Drop, you got my money on this one. Listing Linux support out of the box? That got my attention in a hurry.
(and yes, this is a point blank shot at Glorious as I just finished uploading https://rumble.com/v2irly6-up-at-night-glorious-gmmk2.html Video is still processing)
OrangeDotHere's a picture of mine in the (mostly) dark with Drop Skylight (Slate) keycaps. The RGB backlighting is set to white and the brightness is set to around 60% or so.
I've also pulled one of the keycaps to illustrate that the LED orientation is inverted relative to the legends on my keycaps, which may be something to keep in mind.
