Word of advice for anyone ordering Matias switches. They are extremely difficult to remove. I've snapped several switches when I tried to update the keycaps (even breaking the keycap removal tool), so get the caps you want and leave it alone. They seem to be designed to stay on, so plan and customize in advance (the Cherry MX switches are much easier to remove/update).
nanliuBut Matias switches feel so much better :^) And, at any rate, they're very cheap. You can get 200 switches direct from Matias for $50, so if you a break a few no biggie.
nanliuI would like to second this. I built one with Matias switches.
The keycaps are INCREDIBLY difficult to remove, and also quite difficult to put on. The SP caps fit extremely tightly on the Matias stem. It's not a problem if you will never change keycaps, but I would be wary if you plan on doing so.
Mabye SP can adjust their molds this round to alleviate some of the fitting pressure.
teainhaler77I tried to ask SP after the first Infinity 60% drop to do this...but they said, nope Matias is wrong :/
While it is SP we're talking about, the more people that ask, the more likely they'll be fixed :D
teainhaler77Since the caps were so difficult to insert, the plastic corners deforms a bit when inserted and that causes it to be jammed tight. I tested by shaving the corners with an exacto knife and that made them much easier to handle. I got Tai-Hao alps keycaps and they were easier to insert because they were slightly sloped. SP should follow that design.
nanliuCould you get them off with a keypuller after that modification? I tried what I think you described, but it didn't seem to make any difference in how difficult it was to remove the caps.
