Weighing nearly 2 ounces and measuring more than 14 centimeters, the Churchman’s Prescriptor is decidedly large. But there’s nothing clunky or inelegant about this fountain pen by Italix Read More
I own/have-owned the Tankard, Essential, Prescriptor, Viper Strike and the Curate.
The Tankard and Essential handle better than the Prescriptor, however, it more than makes up for it with substance and nib size. It's one of the best values from Italix and completes my top three along with the Tankard and Essential.
The "secret" to using this rather heavy pen is to actually use it posted. The cap clicks into place. I normally don't post my pens. But due to the fact that the section is nearly non-existent, I understand why they made the pen to post by using a mechanism to secure the cap to the barrel.
This review on YouTube was quite helpful:

For the money, it's tough to go wrong with this pen. I just won't use it for extended writing sessions. It's too heavy for that, at least for me.
The italic finenib is very smooth and kudos to the nib meister. But there is a BIG BUT ! Though pictures supplied by Massdrop show a short grip section, what the pictures fail to show is the sharpness the gold band screw cap stop that is located above the threads on the barrel. Which makes this fountain pen very uncomfortable to hold for long writing sessions. Now after my purchase (my mistake) I have seen videos about this fountain pen where its suggested to grip the pen above the grip section and the gold band on the barrel would act as a stop for you fingers from sliding. This makes the pen to front heavy even with large hands and is not how I and many otherswrite with a pen. Its called a grip section for a reason. Anyway...If I could remove the gold band without damaging the pen I would do so in a heart beat and I would deal with the threads since they are not sharp. But sadly this pen it seems will be delagated to my hasbeen collection drawer. Live and learn they say, I did on this one.
I'm Thrilled with the Churchman's Prescriptor Fountain Pen and as a new pen enthusiast, completely let down when the Broad Italic Oblique came with a burr on the right extreme of the nib. I communicated with your firm and was told that you couldn't help. I'm trying to reach out to Italix Pen Company. I'm very disappointed that such a beautiful start ends this way.
Broad Italic Oblique which definitely needs more practice than my Nemosine Fission stub, and more artful than my usual scribbling handwriting, but it is a beautiful pen with penache. Fairly weighty, and great for accents to my daily work bullet journal.
The pen build quality is extremely good. With the cap on it feel out of balance but when in use the pen is very balanced and pleasant to use. The cap thread is a bit loose but when the cap is tight then is stable. Please be sure that you read about the nib option on Mr. Pen's site. In general the nibs are very wet so choose careful.
Despite the fact that it looks big when caped, in use I will say that is a normal size and weight.
