Assuming you just can't resist buying ink on MD, this 3-pack is a much better deal than the Montblanc 2-pack. The ink is actually a little better, and a lot better if you have a way to fully utilize the metallic flecks. Which is to say, don't expect your writing to twinkly like the Milky Way if you're using a medium or fine nib--you'd need a broad or even a brush to appreciate the full effect. Still nice ink for what it is.
Just got these delivered in Canada. Customs was $14 CAD. Made the price just slightly lower than Goulet. Still wanted the inks, so it's not a huge deal, but it's something to consider.
lolSnarfSnarfyes, I think $54, but I suspect they couldn't fill the order because prices increased and they couldn't fill order. I ordered and was bummed when they never came. On Goulet Pens these inks are now 29.95 each, previously were about $22. Jet Pens has these for 26.50.
I sent customer service a note today and they basically said the product is backordered and they have no idea - so they went ahead and cancelled my order and refunded the money. I’m assuming they have no idea because they didn’t offer to let me keep the order active and wait.
There was an email update sent on January 7th.
"Due to an unexpected delay, these orders may ship later than the original estimated ship date. Our apologies for any inconvenience. If we find that the drop is going to be delayed by more than 30 days, we will let you know. If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button on your transactions page and our Community Support Team will be able to help cancel your order up until it is ready for shipment."
Over 3 weeks late on shipping and no updates. Massdrop is frequently seeming to function as a scam where they borrow my money interest free and then refund it without any compensation.
For those worried about cleaning or clogging: I have never had a single clogging of any pen. It is true that the shimmer is very persistent but I decided I don't mind that. The one thing that I actually did find slightly problematic was how Emerald of Chivor is quite staining on my skin. And a little bit goes a long way, which can be a good thing if you're into ink dilution and washes. Of all colors, Stormy Grey is probably my favorite. Somehow the golden shine on the grey ink looks so special to me.
jaguarishNo question, but that these inks are beautiful, regardless of the color you get. However, you do need to realize that the color will stay with you for a long time: they will stain the feed, and there’s a good chance the staining will be more or less permanent. Clogging is also an issue. The best advice is to shake the pen regularly, and use the ink up within a week or so. Then, when the ink has run out, give your pen a good flushing, not just with water, but with a good quality pen flush. A thorough cleaning and you should be ready for your next go around. Just don’t use it in your best/most expensive pens, because the staining and clogging issues may leave you a bit frustrated. If you can get past the minor issues, these inks are nothing short of glorious.
