Use it as a headlamp, a flood light, or a handheld flashlight: The Lumintop HL18 LED headlamp is as versatile as it is powerful. Backed by a CREE XP-L HD LED, the light features eight modes, including five levels of brightness and three modes for emergency usage Read More
I purchased this headlamp last year and it's still serving me well. If you like pure floodlights like the wizard this is a great alternate. If you don't mind coldish white tint around 5500k ish. On board micro usb charging works well and the rubber port cover (mine didn't come with a spare usb cover) still fits tight a year later (on average I open the port to charge about 4 times a month). Magnet at the base still going strong and comes in handy. Really nice for up close task.
Not sure about Petzl but I have a couple Black Diamond headlamps for running. In terms of durability and reliability in my opinion and experience the HL18 is comparable. For me its too heavy to be a running headlight but I have taken it caving a few times without babying it and no issues thus far.
mc84Do Petzl and Black Diamond even step into the 18650 world?
To my knowledge those are mostly ultralight type headlamps. This is more of an entry level head mounted Sun ray. 900 lumens is not impressive for an 18650 lamp, but the price is ok.
Many people don't realize you can turn them upside down and step into them like a pair of shorts--you know, instead of on your head. Makes for neater work when answering those late-night calls from nature.
BuysUselessThingsWhile looking for reviews on this light, I found 2 reviews on Amazon that say it does come with an 18650 battery. One of them says it's a 3400 mAh Lumintop-branded battery, which very likely comes nowhere near that amount of storage, but hey, assuming this drop also comes with one, still increases the value of the drop. It is still baffling why MD can't answer the question directly though. Customers have a right to know what they're buying. I'm not 100% comfortable with assuming this drop is identical to Amazon's offering, but then Amazon's price is nearly $20 bucks more than this one too, so that might be a hint that assuming a battery comes with this isn't such a good idea.
NO BATTERIES!!!!! Seriously. The drop was misleading since you would assume batteries are included, you have to read into the description and a battery is not listed, if massdrop was honest, it would say NO battery.
So kind of massdrop to answer everyone's questions regarding inclusion of battery by taking our money and sending the product sans battery as a way of confirming that NO batteries aren't included (not even a junky house brand battery). It would seem that this was a bad deal
