Great pen. Cosmetically, the machining is very well done without being overwrought. Out of the box it was a bit shiny for my taste, but it dulled down quickly. A week in the pocket and it looks like an old shell casing, which I prefer. If you prefer the shiny look you will likely have to polish it. Functionally, it is just small enough for me to drop into a pocket and forget about it. If the pen were any longer, a clip would be required (ymmv). With the cap posted the length is perfect and the balance is nice. It is a tad heavy, but that is to be expected from brass. I have M/L hands and I can write with it unposted, but only just. If you have larger hands posting won't be optional. The screw cap takes longer than a friction fit cap, but it's more secure, so I'm good with it. I never had an issue with threads lining up poorly. The refill it came with was okay, but with a slight trim you can fit Mont Blanc rollerball refills that write like a dream. Love this! All in all a great pen, just be aware of the lack of clip, the weight and the length unposted. I would love to purchase this pen in titanium or steel were it available. I may buy one in steel from their website directly since it doesn't appear to be available on drops and they don't make a titanium version.

Excellent pen for many of the reasons named here by others: good size, shape and size vanishes in a pocket despite the heft due to no sharp points, just the right weight and well balanced, uses excellent and inexpensive G2 refills. I have noticed that it's a bit vulnerable to drops, especially when posted (had a cap that went flying once). Machine Era has great customer service as well -- I picked up this pen in an earlier drop that had an issue. I contacted Machine Era directly and they sent me a new pen. I have since bought a second one as a back up, and they have both been solid and durable. At this price point there may be some rare quality control issues with the threading (my experience with 1 of the 3 pens I've had from them), but they back up their product. Highly recommended.

I really like this pen. Very happy to have an affordable option that doesn't require a fisher space pen refill. One significant complaint, I was disappointed to find that new out of it's clear plastic container the pen had a lot of wear on it. The cap has a wear ring around it where it bounced around and rubbed on the inside of its container. Hopefully that will become less noticeable as I put wear on it. Also, the threading where you post the cap looks very delicate. I hope it can stand the test of time because I definitely like to post the cap on this pen whenever I write with it.

Pros

No nonsense, no-frills pen. It just works.
Brass makes it feel weighty and substantive without feeling too heavy or cumbersome.
Fits Pilot G2 style refills perfectly, doesn’t use a spring.
Screw-on cap prevents leaking or bleeding.
Capped, the pen is short and compact; uncapped and posted, the pen is long enough in the hand.
Good balance and ergonomics.

Cons

No pocket clip, if that’s your thing.
Rolls off desks easily.
Brass patinas, which is an acquired taste; if you like patinas it’s good, if not there are no non-brass options for you.
Doesn’t fit most other ink refills, at least not without modification.
Easy to crossthread when posting cap.
Screw-on cap is slow to open and close relative to clicky, bolt-action, and twisty pens.
There was a burr on the tail end of my copy. I could file it off though.

Conclusion: General all-around great pen. I think Nick Shabazz called this a gem and I’d agree. Makes for a great gift, desk / office pen, and maybe even pocket pen. Perhaps not the best everyday carry pen due to the heavy brass weight and lack of a pocket clip but still a decent viable option for EDC. I recommend it.

Pen feels great, especially for the price. It has some serious weight and is a joy to write with. I prefer to write without the cap on the back, but it's awesome that it screws on the back so I don't have to worry about losing it if I'm away from home. Wish it came with a clip, but I bought a Fisher Space Pen clip that fits well. Love that it takes pilot refills, because I'm a 1mm rollerball guy and go through them often. Can't wait for the pen to gain some patina, and it'll be great to pass down one day.

Basically the same review as everyone else. Nice pen, needs a clip. I bought a Fisher Bullet Space Pen gold clip ($5 on Amazon) and it fits perfectly.
