Whether digging holes, splitting wood, puncturing cans, or clearing brush, the Mantis Knives spike axe is on the job. It’s also much lighter than a hammer-head axe, making it ideal for hiking and backcountry camping Read More
In my mind, a "Tactical" tool is one that can be used in any way convenient with little concern of damaging the tool. Consider a claw hammer....you don't think twice about plunging the claw in to drywall or prying on steel or concrete with it. You simply know it will take the abuse. Hammers are made from hammer forged tool steel....that's why they are so tough. 440 stainless simply won't hold up to very much abuse with out bending or braking the tip or blade.
Anyone got the specs on the set screws in the handle of this thing? They've loosened up a good bit with use, and one has even fallen out. Is it possible for Massdrop to get us a replacement part for this?

Look mom, I'm tactical!
I own a useless axe with a short, uncomfortable handle that would suck to clear bush, split wood, or do pretty much anything with. But at least it has a cool looking spike on the end and is non-reflective.
zoomorphI have to say, my favourite thing to laugh at these days is the "tactical pen". Honestly...if someone can kill you with a pen...they're probably gonna be able to do it with a bic. Also...if its so that it can write anywhere...there's this fandangly invention called a graphite pencil.
This i get though. Its not meant for woodchopping, brush clearing or the like. Its for caving someone's head in.
Meh 440c axe head ? You can see the shaft is too short for much ...more like a tactical hatchet.
But you would more than likely get your 25$ worth.
Look to the quality of sheathing afforded for a clue.
Gab1lgath0lso many things these days are getting an EDC tag to help them sell. I live in Australia and can't get this ax, but pretty sure, even if i did, i'd resist the temptation to walk around the streets of brisbane with it....mainly to avoid being arrested or questioned by the cops.
could you imagine how much of a nut job you'd look walking around a shopping centre with a hatchet?
