Like other Gavko knives, the story of the Thresher begins with a shark. Ever since one of his first designs was said to look like a Mako shark, Gavko Knives designer Michal Gavac never looked back Read More

Four new finishes of the Drop + Gavko Thresher available now from Kaviso Outdoors including Abyss, Abyss/Ocean, Coralline, and Tahitian. Original finishes such as Sand, and Aqua are available on Amazon again as well.
Currently working with Mike Gavko and WE Knife to re-order the Thresher and Nurse knives. Are there any new color combinations or tweaks anyone would like to see? We are planning on a Black with Black DLC blade right now and open to suggestions on other options.
You know the saying that goes "you can't un-see something once you've already seen it" or any of it's variations? That's how I feel about the name of this Knife, the Thresher. You see, there's this episode of South Park where after being abducted by aliens, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Eric are told the truth about planet Earth. They find out planet Earth is actually just a alien reality TV show, and it's about to be destroyed because the ratings are bad so the show is getting cancelled. Now, these 2 alien producers of the show end up getting completely wasted on alien drugs and alcohol. In fact so wasted that they reach a point where it's pretty obvious that they're engaging in some type of alien sexual activity. There is a moment during this scene where one alien says to the other, "stick your finger in my thresher!" along with some other sexual alien references.
So, can you see the dilemma I'm having here? And now probably you as well, since I've explained it, and either you have seen this exact episode or now going to watch it to see for yourself? I'm sorry for you, in advance.
Anyway, what it boils down to is this, when I see this knife, all I can think of is that damn alien saying that line. I know that's not the reference where the knife got it's name from, and that it has nothing to do with weird alien characters on South Park engaged in sexual activities, at all. Yet unfortunately for me, once I made this obscure connecting reference between the two, it's been impossible not to think about it.
Anyway, I've waffled on long enough about this nonsensical way my brain sometimes works. Okay, bye.
Niel50Because China or not it's a good product, with great machining and very nice materials. It's not a cheap knife, but in my opinion you'd have a hard time finding a USA made titanium frame lock with an S35VN blade at that price (you might find some, but not much, and probably not with the same finish quality).
Huh. I always thought this design in a mass produced model was supposed to be a massdrop exclusive?
Just saw an ad for the same knife, same name, from BRS.
Looks like the plain version here can be had in other colors, with a nicer looking clip, that's also reversible for left hand carry.
Not for nuthin', but things like this feel seriously watered down when it's no longer exclusive to drop members
Is it me or does the Thresher look like an upscale version of the Kizer Aileon? Or, is the Aileon a downgraded Thresher? The Thresher looks like a much nicer piece and well worth the extra bucks. Suppose I may have to get one just for comparison sake, you know, for science and not to feed the stabby/slicey habit.
BobrazEnded up buying a BRS Gavco Thresher rather than the Drop version. I like the black on black look of the BRS and could get it shipped fast. The BRS version is beefy, heavy and big. It’s not like the Aileon, that’s for sure. Way heavier and longer. The thumb stud was also harder to use than the Aileon. I believe the Thresher is a better knife compared to the Kizer. Within the first week of having the Thresher I cut a finger flick hole and now use it as my main hard use yard knife. Pic pre slot and post slot. Got to love a dremmel and hand files.
Love my Thresher Big Eye, but...
I washed the blade last night using dish soap after cutting steak with the knife. I then dried the knife and set it on a dish rack overnight to allow to completely dry before I folded it. This morning I noticed what appears to be tarnish or corrosion on the blade. I tried to capture it in pics and have attached a couple here. It’s much more visible in real life than in the pics, but you can see the dark discoloration on the blade in the pics.
Is this what one should expect of S35VN steel? Easily tarnished?
