How are these compared to the Grado SR80e and Audio Technica ATH-M50 in terms of sound for at home use

SteveeeeeCan't speak for the Grados, but you know how with the M50's sound like everything is right there inside your head? These sound wider. Also, the bass is tighter and there is less of it. These are more detailed.

SteveeeeeI like sound of my SR325is in their stock form and I found the HE350 to be a tad shrill out of the box. It's not a direct comparison to the SR80e, but it should give you a good idea. I never bother with burn in, but some people claim the HE350 sounds better after a while. I simply changed the pads to Dekoni memory foam pads with the fabric removed. The highs are no longer piercing and the lows got a boost because the memory foam pads provide a better seal. They're now a bit of a combination of the two, with a decent low end plus the soundstage of an open back set of cans. They don't quite have the clarity and sparkle my SR325is have, but for under half the price even with the new pads, I can't fault them.
