The Siena belt is handcrafted with full-grain saffiano leather from Tuscany’s renowned Tannery La Perla Azzurra. A crosshatch pattern invented in Italy more than a century ago and famously used in Prada handbags, saffiano gives leather a water- and scratch-resistant quality Read More
Mario Prada invented the Saffiano finish at Tannery La Perla Azzurra in 1913 when developing the fashion house’s first handbag. This textured finish was to provide more resilience against natural wear and the elements. The Saffiano finish has come to be recognized as sign of both luxury and craftsmanship. I am stoked to be writing my first Massdrop X discussion header about the launch of the Massdrop X The British Belt Company Saffiano Siena belt. Crazy values and stories are what brought me to work at Massdrop and TBBC seems to be at the top of my list of inspiring products that are well crafted, have deep history and are an amazing values. Handcrafted at the British Belt Company with Saffiano leather sourced from the factory in which it was first developed, Massdrop delivers this belt to its community members for a fraction of the price of designer brands at comparable quality. Really looking forward to see members reactions to this beautiful accessory.
Remember - belts sizes are a little misleading. To buy the correct size - purchase 2 sizes large - so if you are a size 30, buy a 32”.
Took receipt of my belt on Saturday. Everything looks good except possibly the belt buckle, which I think could be smoother., but don't know too much about buckle casting/moldings.
Can't remember when this drop started off but has anyone actually have received this belt and worn it? Just to know how the quality is from a wearer's point of view. My missus has a Prada bag that may have the same 'Saffiano' finish but the thickness (of the leather) is quite thin which suits the bag.. Interested but just wondering.
Can anybody comment on how well the "Holmes Hall Brown" compares to Allen Edmonds "Dark Chili" color?
What about "Saddle Tan" compared to AE "Walnut" (burnished, as in Strands)?
